New Date, New Venue! We're excited to confirm the details for Buller's Big Beautiful Garage sale, which we hope will become an annual calendar highlight for community fundraisers. The re-scheduled event is now going to be right here at O’Conor Home, 190 Queen Street.

The date has changed to Saturday 7 November.
Opens at 9:30am for a browse through all the treasures on offer, with our live auction of the standout items kicking off at 11am.

Come along for a great morning out and support the Home while you're at it.
We're still collecting items for the sale and auction — furniture, household goods, tools, bric-a-brac and anything else in good condition would be gratefully received.

Way to go community! Through online giving and brick purchases by individuals, and generous support at Martins Mitre 10, Fresh Choice, New World and Rainbow Cake Kitchen, our local community has now raised an outstanding $313,972.40 towards the essential O'Conor Home extension project.
Our “Giving Menu” has been a real success story. Supporters have embraced the idea of buying a $10 brick towards the new build; 1,870 individual bricks sold so far, alongside donations that will go directly towards the chairs, beds, ceiling hoists and other essential equipment needed to fit out the new 24-bedroom extension.

We've still got some way to go but the giving menu remains open and we're especially looking forward to our Garage Sale / Auction Day, to be held at O'Conor Home on Saturday 7 November 2026 (Election Day) - we hope to see you there!

Between Buller student Maddison Scanlon and her Bachelor of Nursing with support from a DWC Tertiary Scholarship, and this great success story in the West Coast Meseenger last week about one of our diversional therapists, Christine Bickel, we couldn't be more proud - our people mean everything to our staff and residents.
Congratulations on your huge achievement Christine!

We're building this together community. Every bit counts. The little animation below relates to the portion we're asking from community - $800,000 towards the overall project which is a $13,351,627 project.

To date community donations total $206,486.80. Plus we have a pledge for $100,000 so total community fundraising equates to $306,486.80.

(The bulk of the funding required for the whole project is sorted via a mix of O'Conor Home reserves, financing, Heath NZ and grants).

We're consented and ready to go; more than ever we need community to chip in, tap on your neighbours shoulder, call an expat and tell them to dig deep.

Did you read last nights' The Westport News? We hope the article "The last 24 beds, and why we'll build them ourselves" resonated.

This 👉🏻 "So when O’Conor Home asks you to buy a $10 brick, sponsor a chair or put your business name on a room, it’s asking you to build something you will very likely use yourself.
The people who built this place need us to build for them now. One day it will be our turn to be cared for in the town we love. Let’s make sure the beds are there."
