Citizens Advice Bureau NZ is currently collecting data to prove the growing digital divide between the services people need and the technology they can’t navigate, recording over 4,000 cases of digital exclusion affecting access to essential services in just three months.

They are running a Campaign for Inclusion in a Digital Age to tackle this issue.

Do you know where to turn for support if you live rurally in New Zealand?
------------------------
Rural life can be incredibly rewarding but it can also be isolating, physically demanding, and relentless, especially for farming families balancing milking schedules, calving, weather events, and the pressures of everyday rural life.

Following our recent podcast wth Leaving Legacies NZ Belinda Price, Taranaki farmer, trained death doula and passionate advocate for rural communities, we’ve put together a page of support and resources specifically for farmers and rural communities in New Zealand.

Support for Rural Communities in New Zealand includes:
- Rural Support Trust
- Fonterra EAP programme
- Dairy Women's Network
- DairyNZ
- Rural Women
- Farmstrong
- NZ Young Farmers

How often have you heard an older person you know say, ‘I just want to talk to a real person!’

As New Zealand’s population ages, businesses are increasingly being challenged to think about their customer’s changing needs. The idea of convenience and efficiency are very different when you are 25 or 45 compared to 65 or 85.

There is a growing movement towards improving accessibility – which is not simply a compliance issue or a customer service feature, but rather a social responsibility.

Do you live rurally?

Our latest podcast with Belinda Price from Leaving Legacies NZ highlights the unique challenges our rural communities face, especially when it comes to workplace accidents, mental health and planning for end-of-life, including succession planning for your farm. Have you ever had to rely on neighbours and friends for support when things haven't gone to plan?

Belinda is a Taranaki farmer, trained death doula, and passionate advocate for rural communities. We talk about the importance of rural community support and connection, in the face of social isolation, farm accidents and mental health challenges including su***de, and the many resources available to support rural communities.

Learn about the fantastic conversation cards Belinda has developed to help families start important conversations, and her new venture into rural real estate, where she is supporting landowners with questions about succession planning and whether they can bury loved ones on the farm.

We are super excited about the Compassionate Communities Hui coming up in Hastings 18 - 20 June, hosted by Cranford Hospice. For those who haven't booked yet, there is still time grab tickets at the earlybird price. We have got our ticket so will see you there!

This year's hui theme Tai Timu, Tai Pari speaks to the ebb and flow of life's challenges and people's needs. This hui is an invitation to be part of a community that meets those waves with aroha, manaaki and shared responsibility.

What does it look like when a community truly shows up for each other? Come and be part of building that here, in Aotearoa, and in Hawke's Bay, right now. Everyone connected to this kaupapa is welcome. You do not need a job title. You simply need to care.

Shout out to Compassionate Communities Rotorua - Te Atawhai Aroha and North Haven Hospice who hosted hui in Rotorua and Whangārei (with Go With Grace) the past 2 years.
