If your subconscious believes something that doesn't support your goal, it's never going to happen. Often people think they fail at diets and weight loss because of a lack of willpower and discipline.

But actually it all comes down to your beliefs.

My client held a believe that if she was thin, she would be too visible. And that it would come with many other problems for her.

So the belief that's holding you back might not be something as simple as 'I can't stop eating', it could be something more complicated such as 'It's not safe to be seen'.

Start to think about your beliefs around food and losing weight and notice what comes up.

If you're an emotional eater you've probably heard the term 'eat my feelings'.

But have you ever paused to consider what that might be?

If you feel no physical body hunger but have the urge to eat, a simple pause to ask the question 'what am I really feeding?' can be a powerful pattern interrupt to make the unconscious conscious.

It doesn't matter how much weight you want to lose.

Diets and medication will definitely work, but unless you keep them up for the rest of your life, the mindset that got you there will always be waiting to bring you back to square one.

There is no judgment from me if medication feels like the best option - I completely understand that some people have been fighting a battle their whole lives and medication finally gives them some relief. I get that and I fully respect it.

It's also possible to be working on subconscious beliefs, underlying patterns and self esteem alongside medication to further enhance the chances of the results sticking long term, even after coming off them.

We only get this one body for this go around. Lets look after it as best we can. And part of that requires going into the mind.

I have a confession to make...

Even though I specialise in weight management with women, I've never actually struggled with my weight.

Call it luck or good genes, I'm grateful that this has never been a battle for me that I see so many people fight.

But even though I've never been overweight, I've always had an interesting relationship with food.

I can easily overeat to the point of pain, binge on something sweet or salty and I am well known with my loved ones for 'enjoying my food' and being able to eat man sized portions without issue.

So here's the point: it's not just about the weight. It's about the underlying relationship you have with food.

And thats where change really begins. Understanding why those patterns and behaviours exist, and working with your subconscious mind to map a healthier path instead.
