Today is Brazilian Independence Day.
For many people, 7 September brings the image of Dom Pedro and the famous Grito do Ipiranga. But Brazilian Independence was not only one moment. It was a wider historical process shaped by political tension, regional struggles, negotiation and many people often left out of the traditional story.
At Viva Brasil in Ōtautahi, we will share this history through a short, accessible talk alongside music, movement and community.
We are now in the final stretch and have limited spots remaining.
