The Katim Tasol light house model is an integration of existing structures incorporating better and effective health care to the rural population.

And we are happy to be on partner with existing health structures and PHA's to collaboratively deliver quality health care with the right technology, training and infrastructure based on our mission, that is to reach the vulnerable rural population 🙏

TELEMEDICINE is filling a critical gap in Papua New Guinea’s rural health system by giving isolated health workers access to specialist advice they would otherwise not have.

Dr Simon Ganal, founder of the Katim Tasol Foundation, said the absence of a second opinion during critical clinical decisions was a problem consistently raised by rural health workers across the country, and one telemedicine was uniquely placed to fix.

In Loving Memory of Hon. Luther Wenge

The Katim Tasol e.v. team joins the people of Morobe Province in mourning the passing of Honorable Governor Luther Wenge.

We pay tribute to his unwavering support and leadership - especially for his instrumental role in the establishment of Katim Tasol’s first clinic project in the Indagen community. His belief in sustainable development and better healthcare access helped turn our vision into a reality, a reality especially for the remote Indagen people.

Governor Wenge’s legacy will live on in every life touched by the clinic, and in the hearts of those who continue the work he championed.

Our deepest condolences to his family, loved ones, and the people of Morobe Province, a province in which we live and serve.

May his soul rest in eternal peace. 🕊

- OBSTETRICS ESSENTIAL CARE TRAINING SUCCESSFUL IN REMOTE INDAGEN- theory to practice.

Katim Tasol e.V., through its concept under training, conducted a basic obstetric essential care training for Indagen Health staff last week.

This important training involved theoretical (picture 1), simulation (picture2), and practical sessions (picture 3) at the Indagen Clinic.

You may recognize that the clinic is the newly added facility Katim Tasol e.V. delivered to Indagen last year - the first of our 'primary healthcare concept for the world's most remote regions' Lighthouse project Papua New Guinea 🇵🇬.

The team also welcomed our main supporters from Else Kröner Fresenius Stiftung (EKFS) in Germany Chairman Dr Bitza, who, through the bigger foundation, funded the project.

This partnership extends as a band of help for our rural PNG communities.

We thank Dr. Ganal and HEO Bradley James who are on the ground and have overseen a successful practical experience (picture 2).

Obstetrics is a branch of medicine and surgery conceited with childbirth and midwifery.

Else Kröner Fresenius Stiftung is a non-profit Foundation dedicated to advancing medical research and supporting medical-humanitarian relief projects.

Successful ATLS Training at Manolos Base!

On Friday, 28th March 2025, Katim Tasol e.V. proudly hosted a comprehensive and highly successful Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) training program at the Manolos Aviation Ltd Base in Lae. This initiative was spearheaded by our esteemed Project Manager, Dr. Simon Ganal, alongside Dr. Florian, in collaboration with our partner Manolos Aviation’s MAMA Foundation.

ATLS is a globally recognized training program designed to equip medical professionals with essential skills for managing acute trauma cases. This training empowers healthcare providers to assess patient conditions rapidly and accurately, prioritize resuscitation and stabilization, identify whether patient needs surpass facility capabilities, and make arrangements for definitive care—all to ensure optimal treatment for trauma patients.

A total of 12 dedicated staff participated, covering vital aspects such as:
- Systematic and rapid patient assessment 🩺
- Priority-based resuscitation and stabilization 🔄
- Decision-making for facility capabilities 🚨
- Coordination for definitive patient care ⚕

The goal of this training is to uphold our commitment to delivering the highest standard of care to every patient. By empowering our medical teams with advanced knowledge and skills, we aim to elevate the quality of trauma care and enhance patient outcomes.

We thank the CEO of Manolos Aviation and his committed and hardworking staff, and MAMA Foundation team for the support in facilities and transport as we continue to work together to serve our people and save many lives.

A huge thank you to our Manager, Dr. Simon Ganal, for taking time to deliver this very vital training to the medical staff of both Katim Tasol and Manolos Aviation Ltd.

👏 Congratulations to all participants for their dedication and success in completing the ATLS training. Together, we’re making strides in improving trauma care and setting a higher standard of healthcare excellence.

Indagen Clinic Project Update: Lighthouse House Roofing Begins!

We are thrilled to announce that the final stage of the Indagen Clinic's Lighthouse House project is underway—roofing works have officially commenced! This marks a major milestone in our journey, and we can't wait to unveil the finished project soon.

We thank our good partner Manolos Aviation Limited and Mountain Area Medical Airlift Foundation for continued partnership in transport logistics.

The Indagen community is all in and we feel so lucky to be working with a community that wants this service as much as we want it for them.

Our team on the group, led by our project manager Bradley James, has successfully completed setting up of the clinic including all other necessary and additional construction work. We are looking forward to seeing the finishing look!

Stay tuned for the grand opening!

Resharing from Bradley Gima James, our Project Manager.

Serving the Rural Majority.

The new National Health Plan 2021-2030 KRA1 focuses on community engagement and partnership as the core business of improving health at community level.

The model focuses on shifting power towards community members in-order to main equal power distribution between them and health workers in order to maintain and improve health.

It is so satisfying to see project lighthouse and reaching out to our people at Indagen.

The support for the community is unreal 💯

Let's keep going. It would be a dream to see local intellectuals return to home village and utilize knowledge through various capacities to give back to our people.

The country needs us now more than ever before. 🦾

We are in the news again!

Our manager Dr. Simon Ganal, a dedicated German surgeon, is featured here sitting inside our mobile clinic.

We launched our mobile clinic project to deliver essential health services to remote areas of Papua New Guinea. This initiative aims to bridge the healthcare gap in underserved communities, providing critical care where it’s needed most.

We, as a team, are committed to working with partners to bring transformation to rural health in Papua New Guinea.
