Moresby North West Partners with CPL to Advance Accessible Healthcare
Port Moresby, Friday 29th May 2026
Communities across Moresby North West are set to benefit from improved access to essential healthcare services following the signing of a new partnership between the Office of the Member for Moresby North West and City Pharmacy Limited (CPL) Group.
This Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) will bring together public leadership and private sector expertise to support urban clinics with a reliable supply of medicines, medical consumables, and essential healthcare products.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing was formally officiated on Friday, 29 May, at the CPL Group Head Office boardroom. The ceremony was attended by officers from the Office of the Member for Moresby North West, representatives from the Office of the Chairman of the Motu Koita Assembly, and members of CPL Group’s senior management.
The agreement was executed by CPL Group Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Ajay Patel; the Hon. Lohia Boe Samuel, Member for Moresby North West; and the Moresby North West District Administrator, Mr. Ian Michael Mapya.
The signing was witnessed by CPL Group Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Pradeep Panda; Moresby North West Health Sector Coordinator, Mr. Samuel Darimomo; and the Chairman of the Motu Koita Assembly, Mr. Russel Simon Wavik, who attended in the capacity of a non-signing witness.
Clinics across the electorate will receive consistent support in areas such as prescription and over-the-counter medicines, emergency drugs, vaccines, and everyday medical supplies like gloves, syringes, and infection control products; through this partnership.
“This partnership will play a crucial role in ensuring the people of the North West Electorate receive medicines and medical consumables in a timely manner.”
“A portion of the K400,000 allocation will support the supply of essential materials to urban clinics under the Motu Koita Assembly. As Motu Koita Assembly falls within my responsibilities, I continue to work closely with the Chairman of the MKA to deliver meaningful outcomes for our communities.”
— Hon. Lohia Boe Samuel, MP
The program will also strengthen how supplies are delivered and managed, including coordinated distribution to clinics, improved inventory planning, and faster restocking during emergencies.
In addition to providing medical supplies, CPL will offer technical support where needed, including product guidance and basic training for clinic staff, helping ensure that healthcare workers can confidently use and manage the resources available to them.
“Public–private partnerships will be key to advancing healthcare delivery. We are committed to supporting and complementing the work of the Provincial Health Authorities (PHAs). Our expansion into medical clinics is focused on delivering essential services to communities, while helping to ease the burden on the public health system in an affordable and accessible way.”
— Ajay Patel, CEO, City Pharmacy Limited Group
This partnership is about the constituents of the Moresby North West electorates who rely on local clinics as their first point of care. It also reinforces the importance of collaboration, demonstrating how government and business can work together to strengthen essential services.
“Thank you, CPL, for the incredible work you do. As leaders, our responsibility is to direct resources where they are needed most—and with trusted partners like you, we can be confident the job gets done.”
— Russel Simon Wavik, Chairman, Motu Koita Assembly
The initiative will operate under a coordinated system involving the Office, healthcare providers, and CPL, ensuring transparency, accountability, and responsiveness to community needs.
The agreement will run for an initial period of two years, with both parties committed to ongoing communication and continuous improvement in service delivery to clinics across the electorate.
The partnership reflects a shared commitment to improving health outcomes and building stronger, healthier communities throughout Moresby North West.
