🩺 Point-of-Care Services in the Clinic
You don’t always need to go to a laboratory or hospital first to screen for potentially life-threatening conditions.
Our clinic is equipped with point-of-care diagnostic services that allow immediate evaluation while the patient is still in the consultation room.
✔ 12-Lead ECG – rapid screening for heart rhythm problems, ischemia, and other cardiac abnormalities.
✔ Urine Dipstick Testing – quick assessment for kidney involvement, infection, glucose abnormalities, and proteinuria.
✔ Immediate Vital Monitoring – blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, and clinical observation for acute conditions.
These tools allow physicians to quickly assess urgent symptoms such as chest pain, severe hypertension, dizziness, or infection, helping determine whether the patient can be managed safely in the clinic or requires hospital referral.
⚕️ Point-of-care diagnostics help us detect serious conditions early and act immediately—saving valuable time in patient care.
🩺 Clinic Case Snapshot
A young adult female presented to the clinic with severely elevated blood pressure (190/120 mmHg). She was initially asymptomatic, but later reported intermittent chest discomfort.
Because our clinic provides point-of-care services, we were able to immediately perform:
✔ 12-Lead ECG – showed sinus rhythm with no acute ischemic changes
✔ Urine Dipstick – no hematuria or glycosuria, only trace protein
✔ Serial Vital Monitoring – BP trend improved from 190/120 → 167/104
Initial oral antihypertensive therapy was given and the patient was closely observed.
💡 Key point:
Having point-of-care diagnostics in the clinic allows rapid screening for potentially life-threatening conditions without needing to immediately go to an external laboratory, helping guide timely treatment and appropriate referral when necessary.
