Herpangina: A Common Summer Viral Infection

Herpangina is a viral infection that causes fever, sore throat, and painful mouth sores. It is more common during summer because viruses spread faster in warm weather and children have more close contact during travel and outdoor activities.

How to prevent:
• Encourage frequent handwashing
• Avoid sharing utensils, cups, or towels
• Keep children well hydrated
• Maintain clean surroundings

Watch for: Fever, mouth sores, sore throat, and difficulty swallowing.

Consult an ENT specialist if symptoms persist, worsen, or if signs of dehydration appear.

Do you sometimes feel itchiness inside your ears? Together with ear pain, ear blockage, or sometimes ear discharge? You might have what we call as OTOMYCOSIS - a fungal infection of the ears!

This is usually caused by warm and humud environmental conditions, previous ear infections, prior anti-bacterial ear drops use, and sometimes by decreased immune system function.
