Success is going from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm.
Today marks the start for a new journey as a second year Psychiatry resident! As I look back, I realized how much I have changed. In surviving the days I thought I couldn't and in accomplishing goals I thought not possible, I valued myself better and even recognized my own worth more. Keeping in mind, my own mistakes and shortcomings I stay grounded and eagerly strive to become a better version of myself, for my patients and as a good individual.

Sharing the new corner of my office: my everchanging Sand art display with the 3 golden figurines of thinking human figures. Representing how we all are in life, constantly changing and thinking, hopefully always for the better. 🌻

Today, I feel appreciated! Received this special gift from a patient of mine, previously admitted and managed as a case of Schizophrenia. I am really glad seeing improvements in my patients and bringing back their functionality is a great milestone already. ❤
Feeling fulfilled for having the opportunity in this life to be a healing hand of God!

As I look into this painting, I was reminded of how beautiful journeying in this life could be. It made me look back to all the memories of joy, hardships, and moments of bravery I've had, to get to where I am right now.

I am now recognizing that every decision I've made in my life so far, was for me to leave no room for "I wish I've had" or "what could've been". Regrets? Honestly, I do have a few but I would never wish to redo anything in my past.

I am valuing now the trust that I have as I believe that I am being guided to exactly where I am meant to be. Bringing me back to my favorite life verse, Jeremiah 29:11 - "For I know the plans I have for you", declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
Declaring now how clearer my life purpose is, that is to be a compassionate and competent psychiatrist, never losing heart for service and always having an understanding mind to every patient seeking out help.

Praying that this year end with a strong resolve to fully commit in achieving the better version of myself as I enter the new year ahead.

The essence of our mission as a psychiatrist is to help the person who sought care and understand the uniqueness of the patient as emphasized by Dr. Shea in his book entitled, Psychiatric Interviewing.
One of the goals that we must achieve in the initial interview is to instill hope in our patients. To begin the healing process by effecting some decrease of anxiety and pain in the patient.
In this painting, I appreciated how it emanates a sense of hope in me. I imagined myself being in a field of sunflowers under the warmth of sun and cool breeze. Calmly breathing in and out in this serene venue.
I do hope as I train and practice as a psychiatrist I would be able to shed some light to my patients' worries and despair. And that each time they leave my office, I would have somehow rekindled their hopeful spirit and be reminded that there is always a reason to keep going in this life.

Radio Drama Anthology series

I am proud to share with all of you our entry entitled "Liwanag sa Tawag" under the direction/editing of Dr. Rico Dometita and script writing by Dr. Rowena Raymundo, Dr. Sigrid Banizal, and Dr. Katrina Corpuz with Poster design by Dr. Anniline Teng.

Our entry was nominated thrice:
