Play & Say invites our students and their families to attend Soft Sounds, Bright Dreams (A sensory friendly movie experience).

An animated movie will be shown in Le Prive, a private movie room with the lights and sounds adjusted to the comfort of our children on the spectrum.

In observance of Holy Week, please take note of Play & Say's closure for Maundy Thursday up to Easter Sunday. Therapy sessions will resume on April 6, Easter Monday.

Something to do at home!

The one thing to watch for when speech is developing…

For many neurodivergent children or kids with Autism or Apraxia, speech and language skills can be difficult. Those who are non-verbal may need additional sound therapy and OT work to open up the speech and language centers of the brain (ask about this in the comments if needed).

However, there is one way to see if a child’s speech and language is progressing through the developmental process.

👶It’s babbling! The sounds and noises your baby makes is how they develop communication and eventual sounds for speech.

As a child grows older there are ways to help strengthen the:
👄Lips
👅Tongue
😁Jaw

…for speech skills. While these activities may not help the child with pronunciation or annunciation, it will help strengthen the muscles for speech and language readiness.
