AKA Transumbilical Single-port Laparoscopic Appendectomy (TUSPLA)

An alternative to the traditional three port laparoscopic appendectomy for acute appendicitis

A “+1 component” (second, 5mm trocar at the suprapubic area) was utilized to overcome the “parallelism” or lack of triangulation which was crucial for mobilizing the appendix safely in this complex and ruptured appendix we had encountered.
