Every Puff Harms More Than Your Lungs

Smoking and va**ng do not only damage the lungs—they significantly affect the entire upper airway, including the nose, throat, and voice box.

Repeated exposure to smoke or v***r can lead to:
• Chronic laryngitis
• Persistent hoarseness
• Throat irritation and dryness
• Chronic cough
• Increased risk of head and neck cancers

Your voice and throat are often the first to suffer—sometimes long before serious disease develops.

Protect your airway. There is no safe level of smoking or va**ng.

Why Your Allergies Get Worse During the Rainy Season

The rainy season often brings a rise in allergy symptoms, especially allergic rhinitis.

Common triggers include:
• Increased humidity
• Mold growth in damp environments
• Dust mites proliferation
• Airborne allergens and pollutants

Symptoms may include:
• Sneezing and nasal congestion
• Runny or itchy nose
• Postnasal drip
• Itchy eyes and throat irritation

Prevention tips:
• Keep indoor spaces dry and well-ventilated
• Clean air-conditioning filters regularly
• Reduce exposure to dust and molds
• Take medications as prescribed

Consult an ENT specialist if allergies affect your sleep, work, or daily activities.

Why Ear Infections Are More Common During the Rainy Season

Ear infections increase during the rainy season due to higher humidity and moisture exposure.

Common conditions include:
• Otitis media (middle ear infection) – more frequent in children, often following colds or URTIs
• Fungal otitis externa (swimmer’s ear) – promoted by damp, humid environments

Risk factors:
• Water trapped in the ear
• Increased bacterial and fungal growth
• Upper respiratory infections

Keep ears clean and dry, and seek early consultation if pain, discharge, or hearing changes occur.

Why Upper Respiratory Infections Increase During Rainy Season

Upper respiratory tract infections (URTIs) are more common during the rainy season due to changes in temperature, humidity, and increased viral transmission.

Common conditions include:
• Colds (viral upper respiratory infection)
• Pharyngitis (sore throat)
• Laryngitis (hoarseness or voice loss)
• Sinusitis (facial pain and nasal congestion)

Prevention and management:
• Frequent hand hygiene
• Adequate rest and hydration
• Avoid close contact with infected individuals
• Early consultation for persistent symptoms

Do not self-medicate for prolonged symptoms—consult an ENT if symptoms persist beyond a few days or worsen.
