CLMMRH Strengthens Regional Resilience Against Emerging Infectious Threats

Bacolod City | August 6–7, 2026

Bayawan District Hospital participated in the “Unifying Regional Resilience Against EREID” seminar held on August 6–7, 2026 at Acacia Hotel, Bacolod City, with the theme “One Region, One Standard, Uniting Against Emerging Infectious Threats.”

Representing the hospital were Dr. Rogo Homecillo, Dr. Kasha Charina Duenas, and Mrs. Elisa Mae Ragay-Raip, who joined fellow healthcare professionals in strengthening knowledge and preparedness for Emerging and Re-emerging Infectious Diseases (EREID).

The two-day activity highlighted the importance of early detection, infection prevention and control, surveillance, preparedness, and coordinated response in protecting communities from emerging health threats.

The seminar reinforced a powerful message: infectious diseases know no boundaries, and our response must be united.

TUBERCULOSIS AWARENESS INFORMATION DRIVE

On August 20, 2026, Mrs. Ramgee Padua, TB Coordinator, conducted health teaching sessions for patients and watchers at the OPD and hospital wards. The sessions emphasized important information on TB, including prevention, treatment adherence, and the importance of completing the prescribed regimen. Through these activities, TB awareness reached not only healthcare workers but also the very people who need accurate information the most—the patients and their families.

TUBERCULOSIS AWARENESS QUIZ BOWL 2026

On August 19, 2026, the Tuberculosis Awareness Month Celebration came alive through the TB Awareness Quiz Bowl, bringing together four teams from different hospital departments. The activity created an atmosphere of friendly competition while testing participants’ knowledge of tuberculosis prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and control.

Emerging as Champion was Team Ward 1, Dietary and Administration. Team CEMONC, OPD, and IT secured 1st Runner-Up, while Team ER, Pharmacy, and Dental earned 2nd Runner-Up.

Beyond the competition, the quiz bowl became a powerful reminder that every healthcare worker has a role in TB prevention and control. Knowledge is not meant to be stored, it is meant to be shared, practiced, and turned into action.

Congratulations to the winners for a job well don!

IPC TRAINING 2026 for Hospital Staff

The week-long celebration culminated in an Infection Prevention and Control Training for Hospital Staff on July 10, 2026. A total of sixty (60) participants attended the training, including two (2) guest participants from Bais District Hospital. The training discussed the Core Components of Infection Prevention and Control, together with other important IPC topics relevant to the daily operations of healthcare workers. The training also provided an opportunity to connect the findings of the internal audit with the broader principles of IPC. An IPC program is only as strong as the system that supports it—and a system becomes resilient when people are trained to recognize the gap before the gap becomes harm.

IPC INTERNAL AUDIT

The IPC Internal Audit was conducted on July 9, 2026, to determine the actual implementation and compliance of hospital areas with infection prevention and control practices. Unlike classroom discussions and competitions, the internal audit provided the hospital with an opportunity to examine IPC practices where they matter most—in actual work areas and real-life hospital operations. The audit revealed both strengths, gaps and areas requiring immediate attention.
