The Department of Health - Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD) Caraga, in partnership with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the Provincial Health Office of Surigao del Norte, organized the PIMAM Training for the municipalities of Surigao del Norte namely: Alegria, Claver, Gigaquit, Mainit, Placer, San Francisco, Sison, Tubod, Surigao City with special attendance of LGU Dinagat. This was attended by Municipal Health Officers/DTTB, Municipal Nutrition Action Officers, Midwives, and Nurses.
This training aims to enable the participants to effectively integrate Acute Malnutrition Management into routine health and nutrition services and establish outpatient care facilities in the municipalities. This will help in active case finding, treatment, and rehabilitation of Severely Acute Malnourished (SAM) children, to reach Zero SAM cases at the local level.
The training was conducted by ND II Ms. Daisy Glenn Masillones and ND I Ms. Jessie Ann Rulida from Provincial Health Office-SDN, Information Management Consultant Mr. Gabriel Tubigon, and Program Assistant Ms. Yayang Tacsan from UNICEF. It also included ND II Ms. Hare Britney Jasmin from Provincial DOH Office- Surigao del Norte, NO II Mr. Luth Christian Jae Abian from NNC Caraga, and MO IV Dr. Noel Niel Naranjo from Surigao del Norte Provincial Hospital.
During the discussions, IM Consultant Mr. Tubigon emphasized the process which the health and nutrition worker, infant/child, parent or caretaker undergoes when they visit an OTC facility or an OPD facility of an ITC facility which is divided into 4 sessions such as admission, treatment, weekly monitoring, and discharge from OTC.
The training concluded with an individual practical exam, during which participants defended a given case, showcasing the application of the knowledge gained from the discussions. #
