Rabies is 100% Fatal, But 100% Preventable 🐾

If you’ve been bitten, scratched, or even just had saliva from an animal (like a dog or cat) contact broken skin or mucous membranes, do not wait.

✔What You Need to Do:
Wash the Wound Immediately: Thoroughly wash the bite or scratch area with soap and running water for at least 10 minutes.

✔Seek Prompt Medical Consultation: Visit your nearest Animal Bite Center or healthcare facility immediately. Rabies post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP)—which may include a tetanus shot, rabies vaccine, and/or rabies immunoglobulin—is most effective when given as soon as possible after exposure.

✔Do Not Ignore Minor Scratches: Even a small nip or lick over a minor scratch carries risk if the animal's vaccination status is unknown.

Rabies symptoms do not show up right away, but once they do, the virus is almost always fatal. Prompt medical evaluation can save your life.
