The Department of Health Center for Health Development – Northern Mindanao (DOH CHD-NM), in its continued pursuit of improving Oral Health Program, conducted a comprehensive training for Dental Aides aimed at enhancing their competencies and strengthening oral health service delivery at the grassroots level.

The activity was participated in by Dental Aides from the Province of Misamis Oriental, reinforcing the collaboration between regional and provincial health offices in advancing oral health programs.

This initiative focused on equipping dental aides with the necessary knowledge, skills, and attitudes to effectively support dental professionals in the implementation of oral health services. The training covered key areas such as basic dental procedure assistance, infection prevention and control, proper handling and maintenance of dental instruments, patient communication, and records management.

The Provincial Health Office of Misamis Oriental remains committed to capacity-building initiatives that empower healthcare workers and ensure the delivery of quality, accessible, and efficient oral health services with the collaboration from our partners in health.

ORAL HEALTH PROGRAM || Misamis Oriental

To mitigate the impact of rising fuel prices and allow cost savings on transportation, we are shifting to a hybrid online format for our regular monthly meeting. This mode will enable continuous coordination, updates, and planning while reducing travel expenses and ensuring wider participation from all areas.

The meeting was attended by our Technical Division Head, Dr. Teodoro Jr Yu , who provided updates, acknowledged and thanked the team for the program’s accomplishments, and shared important information from the Provincial Health Office of Misamis Oriental.

ORAL HEALTH AWARENESS

The Provincial Health Office of Misamis Oriental, in collaboration with the Barangay Council of Camelon, Municipality of Initao, conducted the “OLRAYT KA SA ORAL HEALTH”, an Oral Health Awareness drive last March 12, 2026.

The activity featured oral examinations, distribution of hygiene kits, and oral health education for children and Senior Citizen beneficiaries of the program. These initiative helped improve personal hygiene, prevent common health issues, and encouraged children to practice healthy routines, reinforcing the program’s commitment to sustainability, education, and care. It also strengthened collaboration among stakeholders in addressing oral health disparities in our communities.

Sa pag-saulog sa National Women’s Month, ang Lungsod sa Balingasag inubanan sa Provincial Health Office of Misamis Oriental naghiusa sa pagpasidungog sa kusog, liderato, ug kontribusyon sa kababayen-an pinaagi sa Women’s Month Celebration.

Ang kalihokan naglakip sa parada, programa, mga serbjsyo sama sa gidala sa atong Provincial Dental Team ug mga mensahe sa mga lederes nga nagtuki sa mga mahinungdanong isyu sama sa gender equality, partisipasyon sa kababayen-an sa liderato, panglawas sa kababayen-an, ug responsableng pagdumala sa kalikupan.

Gitambongan usab kini sa lain-laing kababayen-an gikan sa nagkadaiyang barangay nga mipakita sa ilang talento ug panaghiusa pinaagi sa sayaw sa mga lumad ug Zumba dance.

Pinaagi niini nga selebrasyon, gipasiugda sa lokal nga panggamhanan ang pagpalig-on sa papel sa kababayen-an isip mga lider sa komunidad ug kabahin sa pagtukod sa usa ka mas inklusibo ug patas nga katilingban. 💜

In line with the celebration of National Dental Health Month 2026, Provincial Health Office of Misamis Oriental and in partnership with the Local Government of Salay, through the Municipal Health Office (MHO) led the culmination program at the Municipal Plaza on February 27, under this year’s official theme, “𝐓𝐚𝐫𝐚 𝐧𝐚! 𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐭 𝐅𝐥𝐮𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞, 𝐒𝐚’𝐧 𝐤𝐚 𝐩𝐚?", to strengthen preventive dental care and promote PhilHealth’s Oral Health Benefit Package.

DTTB Dr. Nisan Joanne M. Rivera also delivered a lecture on cancer awareness, emphasized the strong connection between oral health, nutrition, and overall well-being in her discussion with pregnant women, stressing that maintaining good oral health is essential to preventing pregnancy-related complications and improving quality of life.

Through strengthened inter-agency partnerships and sustained community engagement, the PHO Mis. Or. - Dental Health Service continues to champion oral preventive health program toward achieving Healthier Teeth for all.

ORAL HEALTH AWARENESS PROGRAM

In celebration of National Dental Health Month, the Provincial Health Office of Misamis Oriental conducted an Oral Health Awareness Program dubbed “OLRAYT KA SA ORAL HEALTH!” in line with its mandate to deliver quality healthcare services to all.

The activity aimed to promote preventive dental care and proper oral hygiene practices through structured lectures, engaging discussions, and live demonstrations on correct toothbrushing techniques, oral health risks, and preventive dental measures. Participants were educated on the importance of maintaining good oral hygiene and its significant role in overall health, well-being, and self-confidence.

The initiative further ensured that quality dental healthcare services were made accessible to individuals residing in geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas, as well as those in the private sector. This effort contributes to narrowing healthcare disparities and supports the province’s commitment to achieving Universal Health Coverage.

The program also aligns with the Department of Health’s Ngiting 7020 campaign, reinforcing the goal of providing accessible, affordable, effective, and efficient oral healthcare services for all Filipinos.

February is observed as National Dental Health Month in the Philippines (via Proclamation No. 559), which focuses on raising awareness about the importance of oral hygiene and preventive care.

​The City Government of El Salvador, through its City Health Office and in partnership with the Provincial Health Office of Misamis Oriental, successfully held its 22nd National Dental Health Month celebration today, February 25, at Barangay Amoros Covered Court, 9:00 AM. With the theme “𝙏𝙖𝙧𝙖 𝙣𝙖! 𝘾𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙩 𝙁𝙡𝙪𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙙𝙚, 𝙎𝙖’𝙣 𝙆𝙖 𝙋𝙖?!, the campaign aimed to reach underserved areas and promote good oral health practices. Barangay Amoros Day Care Pupils were all smile when they recieved their essential oral care packages.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Barangay Amoros, headed by Punong Barangay Hon. Eva Manabat, together with her Barangay Council, Dr. Adrian Jed Garrett J. Lucero, the Assistant City Health Officer (City Health Officer I) representing City Health Officer Dr. Miravel C. Tangcalagan, and Dr. Lorelie Tiu, Dentist II. Oral examinations and consultations were provided to selected students of Libertad National High School following an engaging and informative Oral Health Awareness lecture conducted by our team.

This Oral Health Month, we remind everyone that a healthy smile starts at home. Together, let us work hand in hand to promote strong, confident, and healthy smiles for our children.

Brushing your teeth at least twice a day, eating nutritious foods, and visiting your dentist regularly are simple yet powerful habits that prevent cavities and keep every smile bright.

LUGAIT, MISAMIS ORIENTAL — In support of the annual observance of National Dental Health Month every February pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 559, s. 2004, Provincial Health Office of Misamis Oriental and Lugait National High School conducted an oral health activity on February 20, 2026, reinforcing the importance of proper dental care among learners.

The activity was spearheaded by the Misamis Oriental Dental Service. This initiative aimed to promote awareness of good oral hygiene practices and prevent common dental problems among students.

Dr. Vance Hels G. Laurie, DMD, emphasized the importance of preventive care, highlighting that maintaining oral health contributes significantly to overall well-being and academic performance. Meanwhile, the school nurse assisted in organizing the learners and ensuring the smooth flow of the activities.

School officials expressed their gratitude to the PHO Dental Team for extending their services to the school. The observance of National Dental Health Month underscores the school’s commitment to supporting government health programs and ensuring the holistic development of learners.

Through collaborative efforts and sustained advocacy, Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental through the leadership of Gov. Juliette T. Uy, continues to promote healthy smiles and brighter futures for its students.
