In view of the El Niño Alert raised by DOST–PAGASA, which is expected to bring prolonged dry conditions and extreme heat, the City Health Office strongly appeals to all farm owners, contractors, and construction managers to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for their employees.
Workers in agriculture and construction are highly vulnerable to heat-related illnesses, including heat exhaustion, heat cramps, and heat stroke, due to prolonged exposure to high temperatures.
In this regard, all concerned are advised to implement the following measures:
1. Ensure Adequate Hydration
-Provide accessible and safe drinking water at all times.
-Encourage workers to drink water frequently.
2. Adjust Work Schedules
-Limit heavy work during peak heat hours (10:00 AM – 4:00 PM).
-Implement rest breaks in shaded or cool areas.
3. Provide Protective Measures
-Encourage the use of hats, light clothing, and protective gear.
-Set up shaded rest areas at worksites.
The City Health Office calls for your full cooperation in protecting the health, safety, and productivity of your workforce during this period of extreme heat.

El Niño Alert issued ⚠️
DOST-PAGASA has officially raised its ENSO Alert and Warning System to El Niño Alert, following the high likelihood of its development in the coming months and possible persistence into early 2027. This may bring drier-than-usual conditions, including dry spells and droughts in parts of the country.
However, above-normal rainfall may still be experienced over the western sections during the Habagat season.
