The Future is Solar make it affordable
In his fifth State of the Nation Address ( ), President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. called for the passing of the proposed Sariling Kuryente Act, echoing the sentiment of majority of Filipinos that scaling can be a practical, affordable, and resilient energy solution that gives consumers greater control over their electricity costs.
Despite strong public support for wider rooftop solar and adoption, financial and policy barriers—such as the 12% VAT imposed on installations, limited financing options, complicated permitting and interconnection procedures, and limited consumer protection, among others—prevent many households and businesses from investing in rooftop solar systems.
The campaign urges Congress to deliberate on the Sariling Kuryente Act to translate the President’s vision into meaningful consumer action. Expanded access to rooftop solar is not only an investment in —but an investment in lower electricity costs, stronger , and a more secure energy future for all.
