The Future is Solar make it affordable

In his fifth State of the Nation Address ( ), President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. called for the passing of the proposed Sariling Kuryente Act, echoing the sentiment of majority of Filipinos that scaling can be a practical, affordable, and resilient energy solution that gives consumers greater control over their electricity costs.

Despite strong public support for wider rooftop solar and adoption, financial and policy barriers—such as the 12% VAT imposed on installations, limited financing options, complicated permitting and interconnection procedures, and limited consumer protection, among others—prevent many households and businesses from investing in rooftop solar systems.

The campaign urges Congress to deliberate on the Sariling Kuryente Act to translate the President’s vision into meaningful consumer action. Expanded access to rooftop solar is not only an investment in —but an investment in lower electricity costs, stronger , and a more secure energy future for all.

Yesterday was a meaningful day of service for the Community Based Diabetes Educators Group Inc. (CBDEG) as we successfully conducted a free Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI) test for our community.

We extend our deepest gratitude to Dr. Deyna for generously volunteering time and expertise to provide these vital medical check-ups.

Through self-less initiatives like this, we are able to take small but significant steps toward better health, early detection, and inclusive care for all.

Thank you to everyone who supported this health mission. Together, we continue our commitment to health education and community stewardship! 🩺✨

Sustaining Hope and Leadership for Transformative Futures

CBDEG Corporate Secretary Ms. Zae Moog and Head of Operations Ms. Lucy Francisco actively participated in the Learning Sessions of the 36th PHILSSA General Assembly yesterday, June 27, 2026, at the ISO, Ateneo de Manila University.

This year's assembly, themed "Torch Forward: Sustaining Hope, Leadership, and Transformative Urban Futures," serves as a vital space of convergence. It is a place where solidarity is rekindled and the torch is carried forward toward a more inclusive future.

By engaging in these compelling conversations, CBDEG joins PHILSSA in its mission to deepen the understanding of emerging urban challenges, surface practical community insights, and map out strategic future directions. We embrace the shared responsibility of leadership transition and intergenerational participation to ensure our health and development advocacy remains sustainable and impactful.
