Together with Cebu City Nutrition Office, City Health Department, and our partners, we conducted the annual Buntis Congress this day together with our moms and moms to be.

Importante ni nga kalihokan sa atong city government since maka-educate ta sa atong mga inahan sa pag amping sa ilahang gisabak ug sa kaugalingon especially on practicing healthy lifestyle during pregnancy and how to take care of themselves during postpartum.

On behalf sa atong Mayor Nestor Archival, mapasalamaton ta sa mga participants sa Buntis Congress ug atoa sila gihatagan og pahalipay para usab sa pagtabang ka nila.

The Cebu City Nutrition Office recently conducted the Nutrition Forum for Pregnant and Lactating Mothers on August 28, 2026 at the CREMDEC Training Hall, Brgy. Taptap, Cebu City.

The forum catered to pregnant and lactating mothers from the upland barangays of Cebu City, providing them with valuable information and guidance on proper nutrition, maternal health, and overall well-being.

The activity featured resource speakers from the Cebu City Health Department, who shared their expertise on important topics concerning maternal and mental health:

“Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies: Strengthening Nutrition in the First 1000 Days”

🧠 Ms. Cheli Mae Tura, Psychometrician
“Mental Health Matters: Understanding and Addressing Postpartum Depression"

The forum aimed to empower mothers with knowledge and practical guidance to support a healthy pregnancy, successful lactation, and the overall well-being of both mother and child.

Through initiatives like this, the Cebu City Nutrition Office continues to promote proper nutrition and holistic maternal care, especially during the critical first 1,000 days of life.

Earlier today, the NNC Undersecretary of Health and NNC Executive Director Dr. Albert Francis E. Domingo and Dr. Jerome Joseph M. Baseleres conducted a surprise monitoring visit to the Taboan Public Market in Cebu City to check on the city's famous dried fish market.

Joining Usec. Domingo were representatives from the National Nutrition Council Region VII, including RNPC Dr. Niño Archie S. Labordo and Nutrition Officer III Nasudi Soluta. The team visited and monitored various stores within the public market to check the availability and compliance of iodized salt.

The Cebu City Nutrition Office (CCNO), through OIC Shaira Camille L. Alatraca, together with Nutrition Officers II Vanessa Lyka A. Salon, Alyanna Seville, and Aldren D. Abarquez, assisted also during the monitoring visit.

Also present were Barangay Captain Clifford Jude G. Niñal, Barangay Councilors Khristy D. Roque and Melinda M. Desamparado and CNS Racquel Amancio, who helped facilitate the visit and ensured that the monitoring team was able to reach as many stores as possible.

The activity highlights the continued collaboration of national, regional, city, and barangay stakeholders in ensuring the proper implementation of salt iodization and food fortification programs, helping promote better nutrition and protect communities from micronutrient deficiencies.

Congratulations to our Nutrition Champions for their well-deserved recognition at the Grand Nutrition Awards, held today at the City Sports Club, Cebu City.

The Regional Nutrition Committee (RNC) recognized Ms. Jhineme V. Mabano, CNS of Barangay Pung-ol Sibugay, as the 2025 City Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar. Also recognized was Barangay Guba, headed by Hon. Orlan B. Herrera, as one of the 2025 Most Promising Barangays, and the Cebu City Nutrition Network (CCNN), chaired by Ms. Heide G. Foulc, as one of the Good Nutrition Projects of Cebu City. Ms. Piladelfa S. Gaviola was also honored with a Service Award in recognition of her dedicated service and valuable contributions to nutrition programs.

A proud and inspiring moment as we celebrate their outstanding achievements, dedication, and unwavering commitment to advancing nutrition and making a meaningful difference in the health and well-being of our communities.

The Cebu City Government continues to strengthen its commitment to improving the health and nutrition of young children through evidence based planning and multi sectoral collaboration.

On August 5, 2026, the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI) presented the Systems Mapping Synthesis Report for Project SINAG (Sustainable Intervention for Nutrition and Growth) during a gathering held at the 8th Floor Executive Building, Cebu City Hall.

The presentation highlighted the findings of the systems mapping research conducted from April to May 2026, providing a comprehensive analysis of the interconnected factors affecting Early Childhood Health and Nutrition. These insights will serve as a foundation for the next phase of the project, LAG 4: Co Designing, where stakeholders will work together in developing strategic and sustainable interventions.

The activity brought together members of the Cebu City Nutrition Network (CCNN), Cebu City Nutrition Office (CCNO), Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) Office, representatives from various Cebu City Government departments, and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Cebu City, represented by LGOO II Danielle D. Camocamo.

By fostering stronger partnerships among government agencies and development partners, Cebu City continues to advance programs that promote healthier beginnings for children. Through collaborative planning and data driven decision making, the city aims to implement more responsive and sustainable nutrition initiatives in line with its vision of a Smart, Sustainable, and Inclusive Cebu City.

CCNO Monthly Staff Meeting | August 2026

The Cebu City Nutrition Office (CCNO), led by OIC Camille Alatraca, conducted its Monthly Staff Meeting on August 3, 2026, at the CCNO Office.

The meeting focused on the following agenda:
• Evaluation of the Nutrition Month activities
• Schedule of activities for the month of August 2026
• Sharing of accomplishments per Nutrition Officer and Administrative staff

The meeting served as an opportunity for the CCNO team to assess recent activities, align upcoming plans, and share accomplishments and updates from the different barangays.

As part of the Nutrition Month Culminating Activities, our generous local vendors once again gave free apples to Cebu City Hall employees during last week's Flag Raising Ceremony at the Plaza Sugbo Grounds, graced by the City Administrator Engr. Albert T. Tan.
