On May 25, HCVGH’s COO, Maria Carmina Joyce Alferez, M.D., FPOGS, delivered an insightful talk titled “Understanding Burnout and Resilience in Healthcare Practice,” aimed at strengthening awareness of mental well-being among healthcare professionals. The session provided a comprehensive discussion on stress in the healthcare setting—its benefits when properly managed, as well as its negative effects when it leads to burnout and fatigue. It also explored the signs and symptoms of burnout, its phases, and the possible consequences for both personal well-being and professional performance. In addition, the talk emphasized practical strategies for managing stress effectively, building resilience, and overcoming burnout through healthy coping mechanisms and self-care practices. Participants were guided on how resilience plays a vital role in sustaining quality care and maintaining balance in demanding healthcare environments. The activity highlighted the importance of prioritizing mental health and fostering resilience among healthcare professionals as key components in delivering safe, compassionate, and sustainable patient care. 💙
