When this child started intensive ABA therapy at Behavior Analytic Solutions Therapeutic Clinic, he was non-vocal, had difficulty following instructions, and displayed challenging behaviors such as screaming and crying.

Through consistent implementation of individualized, evidence-based ABA strategies, we are now seeing remarkable progress! 🎉 He is learning to request his wants and needs, imitate words, and label familiar objects.

💙 From Crying to Functional Communication

Functional Communication Training (FCT) is an important ABA strategy that teaches learners to communicate their needs and wants using appropriate and functional forms of communication.

Previously, this learner would cry and scream whenever he wanted something or could not find a missing item. Through individualized intervention and Functional Communication Training, he was taught to use his words to appropriately communicate what he needed.

We are proud to see him:

Gross motor activities can be a fun and meaningful way to teach children important safety awareness and danger recognition skills.

During this activity, our learner practices following directions, understanding boundaries, and responding appropriately to safety cues while engaging in structured movement.

Through these activities, learners can practice:
🛑 Stopping when instructed
👀 Being aware of their surroundings
🚧 Recognizing boundaries and potential hazards
👂 Following safety instructions
🎯 Responding to “stop,” “wait,” and “come here”

For learners who have difficulty recognizing danger or may engage in unsafe behaviors such as running away or moving toward hazards, these skills can be systematically taught through individualized ABA intervention and repeated practice in safe environments.

🌟 FROM NON-COMPLIANCE TO TASK COMPLETION! 🌟

Progress happens one step at a time. 💙

During the initial stages of intervention, this learner displayed escape-maintained behaviors when gross motor demands were presented, including elopement, screaming, and whining. These behaviors made it difficult for him to participate and complete assigned activities.

Through individualized ABA intervention, consistent reinforcement, prompting, and systematic teaching, we gradually helped him develop more appropriate ways to respond to demands.

Today, we are proud to see him independently complete his assigned gross motor tasks without displaying the previously observed challenging behaviors. 👏🎯
This progress represents more than simply completing a task—it shows growth in:
