To help our populace, let me share one patient condition I've seen more often, who are patients recovering from hemorrhagic stroke. Once stable, after craniotomy (some without), and discharged from hospital, it's where I usually come in. A neuro rehabilitation program that lasts for 6 months at least until patient can walk independently and able to function on his own on daily tasks without assistance. Walking on his own and functioning without help is the biggest challenge at this point onward.

But what is the most astounding characteristic of these patient types. And can they be avoided as much as possible. Perhaps, the most common characteristics are those that are active, within 45 to 65 years old, relatively normal and most are doing exercises such as biking, running and working day to day or are newly retired. But what they failed to see is their blood pressure. It goes up so high from 160/100 to 180/120 when their exercising. And this is overlooked and "normal" for them until the cerebral blood vessel breaks (causing hemorrhage and increased intracranial pressure) and in worst case, a ruptured aneurysm. Yes, the BP is one vital sign that is SO "VITAL" that we have to have it checked and managed early on. Have a check up with your physician and don't settle until your resting BP is 110/70 mmHg or within normal range. And do check your BP while you are on top of your exercise routine so that it should be lesser than 160/100 if most possible. Many reasons for high BP such as high cholesterol, stress, sedentary lifestyle, hereditary, smoking, etc. Get that meds, manage the risk factors, then get back to normal the soonest.

As a PT, my best advise is for you to get into sports. It's like doing yourself a favor, since health is the ultimate wealth. I'm recommending Coach Nicolas Nicolas Eric Gutiérrez to be your start-up coach as his doing this side-hustle aside from being an evangelist. His tennis will speak for itself aside from being a former national player of Spain and settling down here with his Filipina wife. Goodluck start your tennis journey today.
