GENERAL SANTOS CITY, September 3, 2026 — The Philippine Pediatric Society–Davao Southern Mindanao Chapter (PPS-DSMC), through its SOCCSKSARGEN members, has joined government agencies and local partners in promoting Bakuna Eskwela 2026, a school-based immunization campaign scheduled from September 15 to November 15, 2026.
The campaign brings together the Department of Health, General Santos City Health Office, Department of Education, Philippine Information Agency (PIA) SOCCSKSARGEN, Local Government Unit of General Santos City, Philippine Medical Association–General Santos City Chapter, and PPS-DSMC in a shared commitment to strengthen immunization coverage and protect schoolchildren from vaccine-preventable diseases.
Under the program, Grade 1 and Grade 7 learners will receive one dose each of the Measles-Rubella (MR) and Tetanus-Diphtheria (Td) vaccines, regardless of previous vaccination history. Eligible Grade 4 girls will receive the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine based on documented previous HPV vaccination.
Beyond providing vaccines, Bakuna Eskwela 2026 also seeks to reach eligible children who may have missed previous vaccination opportunities, help close immunization gaps, and reduce the risk of outbreaks in schools and communities.
As part of the campaign's information drive, Dr. Maria Cristina Ramizo, pediatrician and representative of PPS-DSMC (SOCCSKSARGEN), joined PIA SOCCSKSARGEN for an interview to share evidence-based information about vaccination, address parents' concerns, and encourage families to support the school-based immunization campaign.
PPS-DSMC emphasizes that parents and guardians are essential partners in protecting children. Families are encouraged to seek information from reliable sources, discuss their concerns with healthcare professionals, coordinate with their children's schools and health workers, and make vaccination decisions based on sound medical evidence.
Protecting children from vaccine-preventable diseases is a responsibility shared by healthcare workers, schools, government agencies, medical organizations, parents, and the entire community.
Through Bakuna Eskwela 2026, PPS-DSMC stands with its partners in working toward a healthier, safer, and better-protected generation of Filipino children.
