Davao City's Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) on Tuesday said that around 36,000 persons with disabilities (PWDs) met the cut-off period for the first annual financial assistance.
The PWDs were able to register within the cut-off period, or on or before October 31, 2025, PDAO Head Atty. Redendo Martinez told reporters on Tuesday.
โNaghatag ta og cut-off as of October 2025 kadtong niaging tuig kadtong maka-receive lang sa financial assistance nga ihatag sa atoang city. So by this year naapil siya sa supplemental budget that will be distributed tentatively by June or July karong tuiga, so kadtong narehistro prior to October 31, 2025 mao ratoโy maka-avail (We set a cut-off as of October 2025 last year for those who are eligible to receive the financial assistance to be provided by the city. For this year, the assistance is included in the supplemental budget and is tentatively scheduled for distribution in June or July. Only those who were registered on or before October 31, 2025 will be able to avail of the assistance),โ Martinez said.
He clarified, however, that those who registered starting November 2025 will be included in a separate distribution year.
โAs to persons with disability nga nag-register November thereafter, 2027 na sila, and that time ang cut-off will be in accordance with the ordinance which is March 31, 2026 (For persons with disabilities who registered in November and thereafter, they will be included in 2027, and by that time the cut-off will be in accordance with the ordinance, which is March 31, 2026),โ Martinez said.
Martinez said there will be no distinction or discrimination in the distribution of the financial assistance.
โTanang klase nga disabilities regardless if you are a doctor, you are a lawyer, basta registered ka as person with disability, regardless of your status, you can avail of the 1,500 pesos annual subsidy (All types of disabilities are covered. Whether you are a doctor or a lawyer, as long as you are registered as a person with disability, regardless of your status, you can avail of the Php1,500 annual subsidy),โ he said.
Martinez said PWDs who are unable to personally claim their financial assistance will be given a five-day window to do so. If the subsidy remains unclaimed, it will be deposited with the City Treasurer and, after the prescribed period, returned to the cityโs funds.
โDapat sila gyud personally naa, but in the event nga nay mga instances nga mga bedridden, kinahanglan lang og authorization letter and of course, to be transparent, kinahanglan ang picture nga bedridden gyud ang principal. For those who are living in the far-flung areas, kung dili sila makaadto, pwede man sila makahatag og authorization letter (They are required to be physically present, but in cases involving bedridden individuals, an authorization letter is sufficient. For transparency, a photo must also be provided to show that the principal is indeed bedridden. For those living in far-flung areas who are unable to come, they may also submit an authorization letter),โ he said.
He added that the distribution of the subsidy will follow the same system used for senior citizens, with beneficiaries claiming their assistance per district based on a set schedule.
Martinez said the city government is doing its best to reach out to PWDs, especially those living in far-flung areas, to ensure they can avail of the service.
Meanwhile, Martinez warned Dabawenyos to rely only on authorized sources for information regarding the distribution of the assistance.
โSa atong kaigsuunan nga Dabawenyo, atong distribution sa subsidy is tentative pa, dili sunod bulan kundili either June or July. Sa karon, naa pa sa plenary under the supplemental budget ang atong budget allocation para diha. Per instruction ni Acting Mayor Baste, as much as possible it will be released earlier than that. Kung nay nagpatapok, kadtong naga-lista kuno nga mao mauna sa assistance, walay ingon ana. It will be the instruction of the CSWDO office ang atong i-follow or dinhi sa atong opisina. Dili ta magpa-ilad. We have to verify sa atong district CSWDO personnel. Mao to ang akong pahimangno sa tanan (To our fellow Dabawenyos, the distribution of the subsidy is still tentative and not scheduled for next month, but is expected either in June or July. At present, the budget allocation is still under plenary deliberation as part of the supplemental budget. However, under the instruction of Acting Mayor Baste, efforts are being made to release it as early as possible. If there are people claiming to be putting up lists or saying they will be prioritized for the assistance, there is no such arrangement. We should only follow the instructions of the CSWDO office or this office. Do not be misledโwe must verify everything with the CSWDO personnel in our respective districts. That is my reminder to everyone),โ Martinez said.
Dabawenyos may track updates on the distribution through the official page of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) or visit its office along Magallanes Street, at the back of the City Hall Annex Building. CIO
