I’d like to write something about my practice in Ashtanga Yoga — Mysore style. 🧑🏼🩰
I just started last month, but the intention to learn with a teacher was planted in me many years ago — all thanks to Tina, Pangging, and Abbie Grace. 😁
One thing I deeply appreciate about Ashtanga is how personal the practice is, much like Sunya meditation. You see, my practice today may not be the same as yesterday’s practice, or even the practice I had when I first began. There’s no competition in it. No one is better than the other. It’s such a personal journey that it allows me to connect more deeply with my body, my breath, and my being.
Of course, my small self would still tell me sometimes na
“Stop na, sakit na.”
“What if mabalian ka?”
“What if your scoliosis worsens?”
"Sakit na kaayo akong lawas, Lord." 😭🤣😂
But just like what Dr. Lim says in Sunya:
“The mind will always find ways to distract you.”
So I continue learning how to return my focus to my breath.
And today, one word kept echoing in my head:
Surrender.
And what a beautiful space surrender is — even in the practice of Ashtanga.
Just be.
Just trust.
And surrender. ✨
Thank you, Teacher Ricky of 🙏🏼
Your dedication is one of the reasons why I continue choosing to choose more for myself every day — bahala’g late usahay ug minsan maabsent. 😅
Thank you for your patience, guidance, and for holding such a grounded space for practice and growth.
