The FDA has approved a new once-daily pill for weight loss, FOUNDAYO.

What sets FOUNDAYO apart from other GLP-1 medications is its flexibility, it can be taken at any time of the day, with or without food or water.

Foundayo is approved for adults with obesity, or those who are overweight with a related condition such as type 2 diabetes or high blood pressure. Like other medications in this class, it should be used alongside a healthy diet and regular exercise.
Common side effects are similar to other GLP-1 drugs and may include nausea, diarrhea, and constipation. Foundayo also carries a boxed warning about a possible increased risk of thyroid C-cell tumors. It should not be used by individuals with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), or by those with multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2). Pricing varies by dose, with a starting self-pay price of $149 per month.

The FDA has approved a new higher dose version of the weight loss drug, WEGOVY (semaglutide) through the “ultra-fast drug review program “.

Previously, the highest approved dose was the 2.4 mg weekly dose. The higher 7.2 mg dose is expected to be available at pharmacies in April, with a price to be announced then.
