Rooted in Faith, United by Service: Nurturing Godโ€™s Creation through Mangrove planting for a Sustainable Tomorrow.

The Red Cross Youth Council of SVCI together with Nexus Veritatis Media Publication, Dipolog Cathedral Youth Ministry, and Ministry of Altar Servers gathered at Brgy. San Pedro to give back to nature and to the community that relies on these mangroves as one of their main source of income and daily livelihood.

With the warm cooperation of the Brgy. San Pedro Council, the group planted new life along the shores that protect homes, secure livelihood, and shelter marine life. Every sapling placed is a promise to stand as stewards of Godโ€™s creation and as one community working for a greener, safer, and sustainable tomorrow.

The activity was successfully carried out that rooted in purpose, bonded by faith, and made stronger when serving together.

As part of the departmental orientation for first-year students on July 11, 2026, the SVCI Red Cross Youth Council introduced its mission, vision, guiding principles to all departments, encouraging students to learn more about the organization and its commitment to humanitarian service.

Through this orientation, students are encouraged to become active volunteers and future leaders who embody the spirit of humanity, service, and compassion within the SVCI community.

Train. Unite. Save.

The Red Cross Youth of SVCI College, under the leadership of SVCI College Council President Kane Mike Tubat, gathered all newly inducted members for the Youth Volunteer Formation Course (YVFC), followed by a meaningful team-building and skills-building activity. During the formation course, participants were introduced to the history of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, its humanitarian mission, the Seven Fundamental Principles, and the essential roles and responsibilities of Red Cross Youth volunteers. The training also emphasized volunteerism, leadership, disaster preparedness, first aid awareness, and the importance of serving communities with compassion, neutrality, and integrity. More than simply bringing the group together, this gathering was organized to fully equip every volunteer with the knowledge, readiness, and right mindset needed to serve. Through shared learning and teamwork, the Red Cross prepares these young members not only to act as one strong unit but to become capable, confident lifesavers for the entire SVCI College community.

United in purpose and trained in action, the Red Cross Youth of SVCI stands ready to answer humanity's call.

COURTESY VISIT | July 2, 2026

Today, July 2, 2026, the Dipolog Cathedral Youth Ministry, together with the Ministry of Altar Servers - Dipolog Cathedral, paid a courtesy visit to Mrs. Teonith Biolango-Agura, Adviser of the SVCI - College Red Cross Youth, as part of the preparations for the upcoming Mangrove Planting Activity.

The visit provided an opportunity to discuss plans, strengthen collaboration, and express our sincere appreciation for her support and commitment to this meaningful environmental initiative.

The Mangrove Planting Activity will take place on July 11, 2026, at San Pedro, Dapitan City, in celebration of the 130th Anniversary of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Cathedral Parish, with the theme:

"Rooted in Faith, United in Service: Nurturing God's Creation Through Mangrove Planting for a Sustainable Tomorrow."

As we prepare for this celebration, may we continue to work together in faith and service, caring for God's creation and encouraging others to become responsible stewards of the environment. Through unity and shared commitment, we look forward to making this activity a meaningful contribution to our community and to future generations.

On 24 June 1859, Henry Dunant witnessed the horrors of the Battle of Solferino in Italy.

Thousands of wounded soldiers were left without adequate care. Dunant helped organize relief for them and later wrote "A Memory of Solferino", calling for better care for wounded soldiers and national relief societies to support military medical services in wartime.

In 1863, he became one of the five members of the committee that would later become the ICRC.

More than 160 years later, Solferino still reminds us: even in war, humanity must be protected.

The Dipolog Cathedral Youth Ministry, Ministry of Altar Servers - Dipolog Cathedral and SVCI - College Red Cross Youth are coming together for a collaborative initiative dedicated to fostering leadership, volunteerism, and meaningful community engagement.
