Stigma around mental health doesnβt always look loud or obvious. Sometimes it sounds like jokes, casual comments, or βjust toughen upβ advice.
But hereβs what it does quietly:
It delays help-seeking.
It turns suffering into silence.
It makes people doubt their own experience.
Mental health concerns are not personality flaws. They are not attention-seeking behaviors. They are human experiences that deserve understanding, not judgment.
Words matter more than we think. A simple shift from βOA ka langβ to βAre you okay?β can change the direction of someoneβs dayβor even their decision to seek help.
We donβt need everyone to be an expert in mental health. We just need less dismissal, more curiosity, and safer conversations.
Because stigma doesnβt just hurt feelingsβit affects care, recovery, and survival.
