The 8 prenatal visits are important because they help keep both the mother and baby healthy throughout pregnancy. Here’s why they really matter:
1. Early detection of problems – Regular checkups help find issues like high blood pressure, anemia, diabetes, or infections early, before they become serious.
2. Monitoring baby’s growth and development – Health workers check the baby’s heartbeat, position, and growth to be sure the baby is developing well.
3. Monitoring the mother’s health – Weight, blood pressure, and overall condition of the mother are closely watched to prevent complications.
4. Prevention of pregnancy complications – Prenatal visits help reduce risks of pre-eclampsia, preterm birth, and low birth weight.
5. Nutrition and supplement guidance – Mothers receive advice on proper nutrition and are given iron, folic acid, and other needed supplements.
6. Vaccinations and laboratory tests – Important tests and vaccines (like tetanus toxoid) are provided to protect both mother and baby.
7. Health education and counseling – Mothers learn about danger signs in pregnancy, birth preparedness, breastfeeding, and newborn care.
8. Emotional support and confidence – Regular visits give mothers reassurance, reduce anxiety, and help them prepare physically and mentally for delivery.

Dahil February na ngayon, for a healthy pregnancy it is recommended that mothers do 8 minimum prenatal visits for better outcomes.

Kaya kapag wala sa capacity mag sagawa ng proper prenatal care, ayusin ang mga desisyon sa buhay.
