Ensuring access to safe and clean drinking water remains one of the priorities of the City Health Office of Iligan in protecting the health and well-being of every community. As part of its continuous public health and sanitation efforts, water sampling activities were conducted in Barangay Kabacsanan Zones 9, 10, 11, 12, and 13 to monitor the quality and safety of local water sources used by residents for drinking, cooking, and daily household needs.
Many families in rural areas depend on spring water and other natural water sources as their primary supply of water. While these sources are essential for everyday living, they may also become vulnerable to contamination caused by environmental factors, improper waste disposal, flooding, and other sanitary concerns. Through regular water sampling and laboratory testing, possible bacterial contamination and harmful microorganisms can be detected early to help prevent the spread of waterborne diseases such as diarrhea, typhoid fever, and other illnesses related to unsafe water.
This activity also highlights the importance of sanitary inspection and community cooperation in maintaining a healthy environment. Proper handling, storage, and protection of water sources are necessary to ensure that every household has access to safe water. By conducting these field activities, the City Health Office continues to strengthen disease prevention measures and promote awareness on environmental sanitation and public health safety.
The City Health Office of Iligan expresses its gratitude to the barangay officials, residents, and all individuals who supported and cooperated during the conduct of the activity. Together, we continue to work towards healthier communities through safe water, proper sanitation, and preventive healthcare services.
โSafe water is not only a basic necessity โ it is a foundation of a healthy community.โ
