The Hemodialysis Unit of Guimaras Specialist Medical Center, Inc. celebrated its second anniversary on May 29. As the very first hemodialysis center in the province, the milestone served as a beautiful reminder of the lives transformed within its walls over the past two years.
At the heart of the celebration were the patients and their resilient families, whose trust has fueled the unit since day one. To honor them, the staff hosted a special celebration made possible through the collaborative leadership of the medical and nursing teams.
Under the guidance of Clinical Head Dr. Arriane Mae Basco, with the support of Chief Nurse Ms. Kristine Sol Ganancial and Unit Head Nurse Mr. Ernel Job Canja, the afternoon celebration was both joyful and moving.
The inspiring presence and words of President Dr. Putli Jahalia Fuerte and Chief of Hospital Dr. Carl Joseph Uy both reaffirmed their commitment to bringing world-class healthcare closer to Guimaras.
The true highlights of the afternoon, however, were the testimonies from the patients themselves and their families.
Becky, a pioneer patient who has been with the unit since 2024, expressed her deep gratitude. For Becky, it is the "world-class service" wrapped in genuine, everyday affection from the nurses that makes her truly thankful.
Sharon Evangelista, a teacher and the wife of Lawrence, a patient who has been undergoing treatment at the unit for the past 10 months, remained hopeful while speaking about the emotional and physical toll of the illness.
โLife is very challenging, and the future is uncertain,โ she shared. โBut I found not only easy-access treatment here, but comfort and a home.โ
With gratitude, she added, โThank you for providing not just medical care, but for lifting our spirits and reminding us that we are not alone in this journey. This Dialysis Unit has become like a second home for us.โ
As GSMCIโs Hemodialysis Unit enters its third year, it continues to prove daily that while medicine can treat the body, it is compassion, community, and love that truly heal the spirit.
