In the Philippines, August is observed as National Lung Month by virtue of Proclamation No. 1761 to raise awareness about respiratory diseases like tuberculosis and pneumonia, and to promote healthy habits. Globally, similar initiatives like Healthy Lung Month or Lung Health Awareness take place in October, and World Lung Day is marked on September 25.

Key Goals of Lung Observances:
• Educate the public on respiratory conditions like asthma, COPD, tuberculosis, and lung cancer.
• Promote smoking cessation and smoke-free environments.
• Advocate for clean indoor and outdoor air quality.
• Encourage early medical screening and timely check-ups.

Tips for Healthy Lungs:
• Stop smoking: Avoid ci******es and limit exposure to secondhand smoke.
• Stay active: Exercise regularly to improve oxygen flow and lung capacity.
• Breathe clean air: Minimize exposure to dust, pollution, and chemical fumes.
• Prevent infections: Keep up to date with recommended vaccines like the flu and pneumonia shots.
