The City Health Office II โ Mountain Unit, Iriga City successfully conducted the Kick-Off of the Measles-Rubella Supplemental Immunization Activity (MR-SIA) 2026 on August 10, 2026, at the Kinartilan Perpetual Help Covered Court, united by one shared goal: to protect every child from measles and rubella.
The activity was spearheaded by our Doctors to the Barrio, Dr. Oscar Mari John A. Estiller, MD, and Dr. Kathleen Jhoanne D. Martinez, MD, together with Renee Mae G. Barce, RN, Nurse IV, and Noemi T. Grimaldo, RN, Nurse III, with the full support of Mayor Rex C. Oliva.
We were honored to receive the support of members of the Philippine Pediatric SocietyโBicol Chapter, particularly Dr. Peter Manuel M. Oliva, and Dr. Marianne Lutgarda Angelica Escobal-Occiano, who both emphasized the vital role of immunization in protecting children and preventing vaccine-preventable diseases.
We are also grateful for the presence and messages of our distinguished guests and partners: Vice Mayor Edsel S. Dimaiwat; Councilor JM A. Grimaldo; Councilor and Rotary Club of Iriga President Dandreb N. Abonite; Perpetual Help Punong Barangay Eduardo V. Dimaiwat; and DOH-CHD Bicol Development Management Officer IV Bryan T. Baria, PhD, DM.
The City Health Office likewise showed its full support through the presence of City Health Officer II Ronald G. Pereรฑa, MD, MHA, alongside Dr. Cindy Villareal, Dr. Romer Trinidad, and Dr. Michelle Guadalupe, whose continued support strengthened the efforts of the Mountain Unit in bringing essential health services closer to the community.
The activity successfully catered to 120 children aged 6โ59 months who received their MR vaccines with the help of mountain-assigned organic and DOH - HRH nurses and midwives. Complementary Family Planning Services and Nutrition Services were also provided by Ms. Marietta Nacario and Kristy Basmayor, respectively, making the event an opportunity to provide more comprehensive health services to families in the community.
The celebration also featured the Commitment Signing Ceremony, โUnited for a Measles- and Rubella-Free Community,โ and the Ligtas Tigdas Dance Challenge, emphasizing that protecting our children is a shared responsibility that requires the commitment of the entire community.
Most importantly, this successful event would not have been possible without the generosity and support of our sponsors and partners. Their contributions helped make it possible for us to create a meaningful, engaging, and child-centered activity while supporting our efforts to reach and protect more children.
