Jones Leads 2026 Provincial MELLPI Pro Evaluation with Complete Slate of Regional Nutrition Contenders

JONES, Isabela — The Municipality of Jones reaffirmed its standing as a nutrition leader during the 2026 Provincial Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation Protocol (MELLPI Pro), emerging as the lone municipality to field contenders in all major regional nutrition focal person categories while also vying for the Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition (CROWN) Award.

Representing Jones in the regional search are Dr. Joanna Michelle Casareno for Regional Outstanding Municipal Nutrition Action Officer (ROMNAO), Ms. Marianette Sacatrapuz for Regional Outstanding Municipal Nutrition Program Coordinator (ROMNPC), and Ms. Judith Antonio for Regional Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar (ROBNS).

The Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team conducted the assessment, reviewing program implementation, accomplishments, and best practices in nutrition governance and service delivery.

The evaluation was conducted by the Regional Nutrition Evaluation Team (RNET) composed of Mr. Edzell Arcinue, Nutrition Officer III of the National Nutrition Council Region 02 (Team Leader); Dr. Oliver Baccay, Assistant Regional Director of the Philippine Information Agency Region 02 and vice-chair; Mr. Edwardson Tad-o, Nutritionist-Dietitian III of the Department of Social Welfare and Development Region 02; and Mr. John Nestor Ballad, Nutrition Officer II of the National Nutrition Council Region 02.

Led by Mayor Nhel Montaño and represented by Municipal Administrator Dr. Manuel B. Cabungcal, the local government highlighted its sustained commitment to nutrition through strong leadership, inter-agency collaboration, and community participation.

Jones’ distinction of producing contenders in all major categories underscores its continued excellence in nutrition programming and its commitment to improving the health and well-being of its constituents.

Cervical Cancer Awareness Month Activity

In celebration of Cervical Cancer Awareness Month, the Municipal Health Office (MHO), in partnership with the Philippine Obstetric and Gynecology Society - Northeast Luzon (POGSNEL) Chapter, successfully conducted a Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid (VIA) screening and breast examination on May 29, 2026.

The activity was led by Dr. Maritess M. Butaran and Dr. Angelica V. Domingo, together with selected MHO staff. A total of 64 clients availed the screening services.

In the afternoon, a lecture on Partograph Reading and Recording and Pregnancy High-Risk Assessment was conducted to enhance the knowledge and skills of healthcare workers, especially as they prepare for the accreditation and opening of the Jones Super Health Center-Birthing Facility. The lecture was attended by 35 participants, composed of physicians, rural health midwives, nurses, and program managers.

The activity highlights the commitment of the MHO and its partners to promote women's health, early detection of cervical cancer, and safe motherhood through continuous education and quality healthcare services.

HAPPENING NOW!

The Municipal Health Office of Jones, with the full support of the Municipal Government of Jones, in partnership with DOH Cagayan Valley and Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO), conducts one day orientation/seminar entitled: "Strengthening TB Prevention and Control in the Municipality of Jones: TB Cascade of Care & Contact Investigation and TB Preventive Treatment (TPT) Enrollment" , to our Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) and Rural Health Midwives today, May 26, 2026.

Key topics discussed which includes TB Cascade of Care and Overview of TB Preventive Treatment (TPT) by our resource speakers, Ms. Grace D. Rabina Crisologo - Provincial NTP Coordinator and Ms. Roxanne P. Jalocon - TB Technical Staff of PBSP.

Together, we continue to promote early detection, proper treatment, and prevention to protect every family and build a healthier, TB-free community.

This initiative was made possible by the leadership of Hon. Nhel C. Montano, CPA and the guidance of our Municipal Health Officer, Dr. Joanna Michelle A. Uy-Casareno, DPPS. Together, we move closer to a healthier, safer, and more progressive Jones, Isabela.

A simple blood pressure check can be life-saving.

Getting your blood pressure measured the right way helps ensure accurate results.
Incorrect positions can lead to incorrect readings.

✔ Sit with your back supported
✔ Legs uncrossed and feet flat on the floor
✔ Arm supported with the cuff at heart level
✔ Use correct cuff size
✔ Rest for at least 5 minutes before the reading
✔ Do not talk during or between measurements
✔ Avoid exercise, tea/coffee, and smoking for at least 30 minutes before reading
