💊 DID YOU KNOW? | Neuromed Pharmacy Health Facts 🩺
⚠️ Your pain reliever could be putting your kidneys at risk!
Just because a medicine is available over the counter doesn't mean it's completely risk-free.
Common pain relievers such as ibuprofen, mefenamic acid, and naproxen belong to a class of medications called Nonsteroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs).
While effective for relieving pain and inflammation, frequent or inappropriate use can reduce blood flow to the kidneys and increase the risk of kidney injury, especially in people who are dehydrated or have existing kidney problems.
👨⚕️ A PHARMACIST'S REMINDER:
✅ Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest necessary duration.
✅ Avoid combining two or more NSAIDs unless specifically directed by your healthcare provider.
✅ Stay adequately hydrated, especially during illness or physical activity.
✅ Exercise extra caution if you have kidney disease, hypertension, or heart problems.
✅ Always consult your pharmacist before taking pain relievers, especially if you're taking other medications.
💡 Remember: More medicine doesn't always mean better treatment.
Your kidneys work hard to keep you healthy. Protect them by using medications responsibly!
