My twins are finally going home! 💙💗 Even baby girl seems to know it—raising her tiny hand like she’s saying, “Hurray, we made it!” 🙌🥹

Born at 33 weeks via emergency CS due to preeclampsia, our boy-and-girl twins spent almost two weeks in the NICU. Aside from 3 days of oxygen support, they needed time, milk, careful monitoring, and our team’s tender loving care.

A happy reminder for moms: prematurity does NOT automatically mean antibiotics. When infection is suspected, antibiotics save lives. But when they are not clearly needed, avoiding them is also part of good care—because unnecessary newborn antibiotic exposure may affect the baby’s gut microbiome, immunity, allergy risk, weight, and antibiotic resistance in the future.

Today, we celebrate two tiny fighters, one grateful family, and another NICU victory. Home at last! 🏡✨

While everyone else is celebrating a freezing-cold operating room, we’re silently worrying about the newborn. 😌

Because for babies—especially newborns—hypothermia is not just about comfort. A low body temperature can lead to serious, even life-threatening, complications.

MOM: “Kaina, pagkita ni Nate sang iya toy stethoscope, hambal gid dayon niya, ‘Doc Nikki si Nate.’”
(Translation: Pagkita ni Nate ng toy stethoscope niya kanina, sinabi niya agad, “Doc Nikki si Nate.”)
MOM: “Gusto mo maging si Doc Nikki?”
NATE: “Yes!”

Nakakataba ng puso ang mga ganitong moments.
Minsan kasi, iniisip ng iba na ang trabaho lang ng doktor ay magbigay ng reseta, mag-injection, o magpagamot ng may sakit. Pero sa isang bata, puwede pala tayong maging kaibigan, gabay, at inspirasyon.

I hope more parents will help their children see doctors this way—not as someone to fear, but as someone who genuinely cares for them and wants them to grow up healthy and strong.

One of the greatest privileges of being a pediatrician is knowing that you can influence a child not only through healing, but also through example. At this young age, Nate probably doesn't realize it yet, but he reminded me today why I chose this profession.

And who knows? Baka balang araw, ang toy stethoscope na hawak niya ngayon ay mapalitan ng tunay na stethoscope, at siya naman ang mag-aalaga sa susunod na henerasyon ng mga bata.
The number of Filipino pediatricians continues to decline, so we need more young dreamers like you, kiddo.

If you decide to pursue that dream someday, know that I'll be rooting for you—and I'd be more than willing to help train the future pediatrician named Nate. ❤️👨‍⚕️

Sometimes I find myself complaining about the sleepless nights, missed meals, unattended family events, and the physical, mental, and emotional exhaustion that come with this profession. Truthfully, I believe these sacrifices are often inevitable in the life of a doctor.

But then I see patients like them.

I watch them get better. I witness their recovery. I see the relief in their families’ eyes when I can give them reassurance, hope, and a reason to believe that brighter days are ahead. And when the time finally comes for them to go home and be reunited with the people who love them most, I am reminded of why I chose this path.

Being a doctor is difficult. Most days, you carry burdens and pressures you never imagined you would be strong enough to bear. There are moments when the weight feels overwhelming.

Yet moments like these remind me why I was blessed with the opportunity to heal.

Perhaps this is exactly why He entrusted me with this calling. Not because it is easy, but because He knew I could carry it. And through these hands, these decisions, and these long days and nights, I am able to do my small part in delivering His compassion and care to children who need it most. ❤️

Due to the long waiting times caused by the previous system, I will now be implementing scheduled consultations/vaccinations by batch to make your clinic visit more comfortable and organized.

Batch Schedule:
• Batch 1 – 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM
• Batch 2 – 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM
• Batch 3 – 11:30 AM to 12:30 P
• Batch 4 – 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM
• Lunch Break – 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM
• Batch 5 - 2:00PM to 3:00PM
• Batch 6 - 3:00PM to 4:00PM, and so on…

Parents/Caretakers may choose their preferred time slot. However, once a batch is full, you will be assigned to the next available schedule.
Please arrive on time. Those who arrive late may need to wait until the currently accommodated batch has been finished. Newborns coming for follow-up check-ups and persons with disability (PWDs) will be prioritized.

Kindly note that schedules may still change in case of emergencies. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Magkakaiba po ang skin type ng bawat bata. May mga batang mas susceptible sa skin infections—lalo na kapag may poor hygiene, skin damage, o kulang sa proper nutrition.

Gaya ng BULLOUS IMPETIGO, mabilis itong makahawa through direct skin contact at shared items. Kaya kung mahina ang natural defense ng bakat, puwedeng mabilis kumalat ang infection.

Kaya ang pinakaimportanteng prevention ay umiikot po sa:
✔️ good hygiene
✔️ early treatment
✔️ iwas skin-to-skin spread

Practical tips for parents:
• madalas na paghuhugas ng kamay
• panatilihing maikli ang kuko para iwas kamot at pagkalat
• huwag magshare ng tuwalya, unan, kumot, damit, o laruan na nadidikit sa balat
• palitan araw-araw ang towels at damit habang may sugat pa
• linisin ang madalas hawakan tulad ng tables, gadgets, at doorknobs
• takpan lightly ang sugat kung may lumalabas na fluid
• araw-araw na paligo gamit mild soap and clean water

Tandaan: mabilis makahawa ang impetigo—not because “madumi” ang bata, but because bacteria easily spread through skin contact, scratching, and shared objects. Hygiene at maagap na gamutan ang susi. 🥰👌

Marami pa rin po ang nagtatanong kung may clinic despite the schedule already being posted before the month started, and followed by additional announcements again 2 weeks ago and last week.

Clinic consultations will officially resume on May 25 po. For now, allow me muna to enjoy these last few days of detoxification, rest, and recharging before going back to work.
