For years, the name PCOS didn’t tell the full story. It focused on ovaries and β€œcysts,” even though many women experience so much moreβ€”hormonal changes, metabolic challenges, fertility concerns, and symptoms that affect daily life. Global experts have now renamed it PMOS, or Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome, to better reflect the whole-body experience of this condition.

And that matters.

Because this is bigger than a name change. It’s a step toward listening to women more closely, understanding conditions more fully, and building healthcare that reflects lived experiencesβ€”not outdated assumptions. Research suggests the previous terminology contributed to confusion and missed diagnoses.

At InspireHer, we believe every woman deserves healthcare that supports her whole life, not just a moment in time.
