For years, the name PCOS didnβt tell the full story. It focused on ovaries and βcysts,β even though many women experience so much moreβhormonal changes, metabolic challenges, fertility concerns, and symptoms that affect daily life. Global experts have now renamed it PMOS, or Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome, to better reflect the whole-body experience of this condition.
And that matters.
Because this is bigger than a name change. Itβs a step toward listening to women more closely, understanding conditions more fully, and building healthcare that reflects lived experiencesβnot outdated assumptions. Research suggests the previous terminology contributed to confusion and missed diagnoses.
At InspireHer, we believe every woman deserves healthcare that supports her whole life, not just a moment in time.
