The Department of Health – Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD) SOCCSKSARGEN conducted its 3rd Quarter Wellness Clinic Activity on August 17, 2026, at the DOH-CHD SOCCSKSARGEN Regional Office.

In observance of Sight Saving Month, the activity provided computerized eye screening through Prosight Eye Care Center, headed by Dr. Kimberly Diane Supetran. The screening emphasized the importance of regular eye checks and healthy practices, particularly among employees who spend extended periods using digital screens.

A total of 128 permanent and Contract of Service (COS) employees underwent eye screening, supporting the Department’s efforts to promote eye health and maintain a healthy and productive workplace.

The Department of Health – Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD) SOCCSKSARGEN conducted its Monthly Wellness Clinic Activity on August 24, 2026, at Mall of Ace Centerpoint.

The activity promoted healthy breastfeeding practices and eye health among community members. Krisitne Grace T. Hicban, discussed the importance of exclusive breastfeeding, proper latching, and recognizing infant feeding cues. She also emphasized the shared responsibility of families and communities in supporting breastfeeding mothers.

Meanwhile, Dr. Mary Jane C. Dela Cruz and Dr. Leslie Dela Cruz-Adam of Eye Health South Cotabato provided free eye check-ups to shoppers, particularly senior citizens experiencing cataracts and other eye-related concerns.

The Department of Health – Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD) SOCCSKSARGEN continues to uphold its promise to safeguard the health of children by equipping health professionals on the Basic Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI) on August 4–7, 2026, at the Agua Frio Garden Resort, Inc., Koronadal City,

The training equipped participants with practical skills to identify danger signs, provide appropriate interventions, make timely referrals, and guide caregivers in caring for sick children.
Dr. Edvir Jane S. Montañer, Regional Newborn and Infant Program (NIP) Medical Coordinator, provided the initial orientation and facilitated sessions on the assessment, treatment, and caregiver counseling for sick infants and children.

Additionally, Rohainnah M. Mua, Regional NIP Nurse Coordinator, oriented the participants on IMCI including the principles and systematic approach of the strategy. Meanwhile, Omairah Sarifa A. Ayao, Health Program Researcher, discussed basic counseling skills, emphasizing clear, respectful, and client-centered communication with caregivers.

Participants applied the lessons through case presentations and role-playing exercises that presented actual clinical situations. These activities allowed them to practice IMCI skills such as providing appropriate interventions, timely referrals, and caregiver counseling.

This initiative demonstrates the agency’s dedication to improving child health outcomes in the region.

𝐎𝐧 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥-𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐈𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧

"Sa SOCCSKSARGEN Region, magsisimula na po ang ating School-Based Immunization or SBI sa September 15 hanggang November 15, 2026.

Para sa Grade 1 at 7 learners, ang ibibigay na bakuna ay measles-rubella (MR) at tetanus-diphtheria (TD). Mga bakunang panlaban sa tigdas, tigdas-hangin, tetanus at diphtheria

Para naman sa eligible Grade 4 female learners, HPV vaccine ang ibibigay—proteksyon laban sa cervical cancer. May catch-up vaccination din para sa eligible Grade 5 female learners na hindi nakatanggap ng HPV vaccine noong nakaraang School-Based Immunization.

Mahalaga po ang SBI upang mabigyan sila ng proteksyon laban sa mga sakit na maaaring maiwasan sa pamamagitan ng bakuna.

Kaya hinihikayat po namin ang mga magulang at guardians na makipag-ugnayan sa kanilang paaralan at health workers, alamin ang schedule ng vaccination, at suportahan ang pagbabakuna ng kanilang mga anak."
