On September 26, we successfully conducted the Second Batch of Occupational Therapy Evaluation for learners of DepEd Region V- Schools Division of Legazpi City.

For us at WCCD Inc. , this is more than an evaluation. It is part of our continuing commitment to make appropriate, accessible, and meaningful support available to children who need it.

We believe that when we understand a child’s unique strengths and needs, we can create better opportunities for learning, development, participation, and independence. 💙

If you’re parenting an autistic, non-speaking or minimally speaking child, you may eventually hear somebody mention AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication).

And one of the biggest fears I hear from families I support is:

“But what if using AAC stops them talking?”
I hear you and appreciate where you are coming from.

Guided by evidence based practice, experience of using AAC everyday and oozing with holistic practice, I can confidently say that AAC is not about taking speech away.

It's about giving a child a way to communicate NOW.
They might use spoken words.
They might use AAC.
They might sign.
They might use several methods together.
The priority is that your child can access their voice, however that looks.

Today was a meaningful day as we conducted an Occupational Therapy Evaluation for learners from the Schools Division of Legazpi. 💙

We are grateful for the opportunity to be part of their journey toward greater independence, participation, and confidence in their everyday activities.
Every learner is unique, and understanding their individual strengths and needs helps us provide the right support and intervention. 🧩✨

To the learners, parents, teachers, Schools Division of Legazpi Department of Education Region V and everyone who made today’s evaluation possible—thank you for your trust and cooperation! 🤗

Legazpi City --- Select learners with special needs enrolled in Legazpi City Division SPED Center received through parents, their dozen-egg supplement package, thanks to the generosity of the Legazpi City Veterinary Office. Facilitator-members of the school faculty likewise received their egg packages.

The give-away is part of WCCD, Inc.'s wellness and nutrition initiatives on top of its regular services for kids in the autism spectrum.

This multi-partite collaboration between WCCD, Inc., the City Vet Office and the SPED Center is yet another testimony that the private sector, specifically civil society organizations (CSOs) can actively participate in the furtherance of effective local governance through delivery of needed services in the community. xXx

Worried about school mornings getting chaotic again? 😅

And whether your kids have already started school or you're staring down that first day next week, here's one simple thing you can set up ahead of time:

Make the morning routine visual.

I created one with a family in session this week, and thought — I bet some of you could use this too.

Kids often need to SEE what they're supposed to do to really understand and conceptualize the routine.

And for ADHD kiddos? Having each step laid out visually means they don't have to keep the whole morning routine in their head.

Want to make your own?

Just copy + paste your routine into ChatGPT and say:

“Create a visual for this morning routine:
6:00 am — shower if kids want to
6:30 am — #1 wake-up call
6:35 am — lay out medication + start making breakfast
6:40 am — #2 wake-up call
6:50 am — breakfast is ready (double-check medication is taken)
7:05 am — shoes on + backpacks
7:10 am — in the car leaving for school”

That's it! 🙌

One less thing for you to repeat 47 times every morning. 😂

Get the routine out of your head and somewhere they can see it.
