Sounds familiar? 👀 We’ve probably heard these phrases or even said them ourselves.
As conversations about mental health are becoming more open, the words we use matter, too. While stress, sadness, trauma, and depression are all valid experiences, they do not always mean the same thing.

Using psychological terms correctly does not mean invalidating anyone’s feelings. It is about better understanding our experiences, reducing misconceptions, and showing respect for those who deal with mental health conditions everyday.

The more we understand these terms, the better we will be able to create conversations rooted in empathy, awareness, and respect. 💙

Alright, alright, it’s the first post of KaPSYCHsayan in this academic year. So let’s take a chill pill, guys. 😌

And there’s a first for everything, right? Well that’s what Wilhelm Wundt did!

If you didn’t know yet, 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐦 𝐖𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐭 is a German physiologist and psychologist who is generally acknowledged as the 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐞𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐬𝐲𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲. 🔎🔱

He established his 𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕 𝒆𝒙𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒍 𝒑𝒔𝒚𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒍𝒐𝒈𝒚 𝒍𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒚 at the 𝑼𝒏𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒐𝒇 𝑳𝒆𝒊𝒛𝒑𝒊𝒈, 𝑮𝒆𝒓𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒚, in 1879 with the goal of promoting psychology as a distinct scientific discipline apart from philosophy. 🇩🇪

How, you might ask? By demonstrating the importance of experimental methods and systematic observation in studying mental processes.

And ever since the beginning of modern experimental psychology, Wundt’s psychology laboratory in Leipzig, Germany has been considered a landmark. 📍

Today, we commemorate the life and sacrifice of Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr., whose courage and love for the Filipino people became a lasting symbol of the fight for democracy.

May his legacy remind us that patriotism is not only found in grand acts, but also in the courage to stand for what is right, speak for those who cannot, and serve our nation with integrity.

Hi! 👋 We are 4th year BS Psychology students from the University of Santo Tomas–Legazpi, and we're currently conducting our undergraduate thesis. We're looking for LGBTQ+ employees working in BPO companies or sectarian institutions to answer our survey.

If you are:
✨ 18 years old or older
✨ An LGBTQ+ employee
✨ Openly out in your workplace
✨ Employed in your current organization for at least 6 months

3. Personally disclosed your sexual orientation and/or gender identity to at least 1 biological parent within the last five years (voluntarily disclosed, not outed by someone else)
4. Born, raised, and currently residing in the Philippines
5. Currently living under the same household as the biological parent to whom you disclosed
