Using treats can be very effective in teaching new skills—but when overused, children may become dependent on them to follow instructions or complete tasks.

In ABA, the goal is not to remove reinforcement, but to build motivation that lasts beyond the treat 🌱

💡 This is done through reinforcement fading and variation—gradually reducing reliance on food rewards while introducing other meaningful reinforcers.
