The Rural Health Unit (RHU) of Malabang, headed by Dr. Ayah S. Mohamad, successfully conducted a Dengue Awareness Program on June 23, 2026, at Barangay Matampay, Malabang, Lanao del Sur. The activity aimed to educate community members about dengue fever, its causes, signs and symptoms, modes of transmission, preventive measures, and the importance of early detection and timely medical consultation.
During the awareness session, the RHU staff provided comprehensive health education on maintaining a clean and healthy environment by eliminating stagnant water where mosquitoes breed. Participants were also encouraged to practice the "4S" strategy against dengue: Search and destroy mosquito breeding sites, Self-protection measures, Seek early consultation for fever, and Support community fogging or spraying only during outbreaks when necessary. Interactive discussions allowed residents to ask questions and gain a better understanding of how they can actively contribute to dengue prevention within their households and the community.
The program was well attended by barangay officials, community members, and local health workers, who actively participated throughout the activity. The successful conduct of the Dengue Awareness Program reflects the continued commitment of the RHU Malabang, under the leadership of Dr. Ayah S. Mohamad, to promote public health, strengthen disease prevention efforts, and empower communities through health education. Such initiatives play a vital role in reducing the risk of dengue infection and fostering a healthier and more informed community in Barangay Matampay, Malabang, Lanao del Sur.
