BRIEF HISTORY OF PHILIPPINE ROTC

In 1862,ROTC was established in the United States as a college elective focusing on military training and discipline.Many countries that were connected with the United States then followed the same program including the Republic of the Philippines.On the brink of World War II in the year 1912,the Americans established the first Philippine ROTC unit in the University of the Philippines even after the country gained its independence,the ROTC program remained a college elective for all Filipino students.

On 11 October 2026, the City of Malabon University ROTC Unit, under the leadership of COL ALVIN S ASPIRAS ART (GSC) PA, Commandant, conducted its 8th Training Day for Military Science 1 (MS-1) cadets at Barangay Longos, Malabon City.

The training focused on basic facing movements, drills, and ceremonies to enhance the cadetsโ€™ discipline, coordination, teamwork, and military bearing.

Through continuous training and practice, the cadets develop the discipline, confidence, and sense of responsibility expected of future reservists and patriotic Filipino citizens.

The training featured Drills and Ceremonies, Followership 1, and IED Awareness, equipping cadets with essential knowledge, discipline, and skills necessary for effective military service.

Through Followership 1, cadets were reminded that effective leadership begins with effective followershipโ€”understanding the chain of command, exercising initiative, maintaining discipline, and contributing to mission accomplishment.

The IED Awareness lecture likewise strengthened the cadetsโ€™ vigilance by introducing the different types and characteristics of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), emphasizing awareness and safety in potentially hazardous situations.

Shaping disciplined cadets. Building responsible followers. Developing leaders for tomorrow.

On 25 September 2026, the CMU ROTC Unit received the PHILARPATH uniforms, consisting of one (1) set of Athletic Grey and one (1) set of OD-Green Raglan, from Headquarters, Philippine Army, at Headquarters, 1301st CDC, PNR Compound, Caloocan City.

The issuance of the prescribed uniforms reinforces discipline, military bearing, professionalism, and esprit de corps among the Cadet Officers as they continue their leadership training and development.

The Unit extends its sincere appreciation to the Philippine Army, COL ALVIN S ASPIRAS ART (GSC) PA, Commandant, CMU ROTC Unit, and the dedicated ROTC Training Staff for their continued leadership, guidance, and support.

On 270700 September 2026, the City of Malabon University ROTC Unit, under the leadership of COL ALVIN S ASPIRAS ART (GSC) PA, Commandant, conducted its 6th training day for Military Science 1, held at Pampano Corner, Maya-maya St., Brgy Longos, Malabon City.

At 0700H Members of the ROTC Training Staff, together with the Graduate Military Assistants (GMA) and Cadet Officers led by Cpl Ariel P Gabriel (QMS) PA, organized the MS-1 students into a battalion formation for accounting and attendance checking, followed by a Drills and Ceremonies.
At 1020H, MS-2 students proceeded to designated classrooms for midterm examinations. Said examination ended at about 1140H the same day.

At 1200H, the ROTC Training Staff and GMA formed the students at the CMU quadrangle for announcements regarding the upcoming 7th training day and dismissal.
