As a child, The Black Stallion captured my heart. It is a film filled with life lessons, but the one that has stayed with me the longest is about the Path.
A violent storm threw a young boy into a life he never imagined. His father was swallowed by the sea, and by some stroke of grace, the boy found himself alive but stranded on an island with a wild Black Arabian stallion.
How strange that life should choose such a harsh path for them both.
The boy could have remained imprisoned by fear. Instead, he chose curiosity.
Seeing the stallion trapped against the rocks, he cut the rope that held him fast. The horse bolted into the distance, as far from the boy as he could go.
Trust did not arrive all at once.
It had to be earned.
Day by day, step by step, the distance between them grew smaller until fear slowly gave way to friendship.
Then came wonder.
If I can earn his trust... perhaps one day I can fly with him.
And little by little, they discovered the freedom of moving together.
As companions - not as his master.
Together they found a new path- one that would never have existed without the storm.
Perhaps that is what "Path" teaches us.
We rarely choose the bends in the trail.
We rarely understand them while we're walking.
But sometimes the very thing that interrupts our plans becomes the doorway to a life we could never have planned.
Wonder doesn't ask us to know where the path is leading.
It simply invites us to take the next step.
