your email signature is doing WHAT? ๐Ÿšฉ

5 red flags in your signature right now (and what they REALLY say about you):

๐Ÿšฉ "Sent from my iPhone, please excuse typos"
= "I don't proofread."

๐Ÿšฉ Wall of 8 different certifications
= "my LinkedIn is my personality."

๐Ÿšฉ Motivational quote in italics
= "I need Gandhi to close deals."

๐Ÿšฉ 5 phone numbers + fax + Skype
= "I made this signature in 2011."

๐Ÿšฉ "CONFIDENTIALITY NOTICE" paragraph
= "our lawyer said we had to."

โ€”

what a GOOD signature actually needs:
โœ“ name
โœ“ role
โœ“ company
โœ“ ONE contact method

that's it. that's the whole thing.

your signature is not your resume. it's not your billboard.
it's a name tag.

the marketing book that isn't boring ๐Ÿ“š

if you're tired of marketing books that read like textbooks or
"10x your funnel" schemes...

read THIS IS MARKETING by Seth Godin.

no fluff.
no funnels.
no "growth hacks."

just:
"who is this for?
what change are you trying to make?"

that's it. that's the whole book.

but those two questions changed how I think about EVERY email,
every campaign, every landing page.

it's the book I re-read every 6 months.
because I forget. because we all do.

โ€”

my top 3 Godin takeaways:

1. "you can't reach everyone. don't try."
2. "if it's not for you, that's the point."
3. "marketing is the generous act of helping someone solve a problem."

if you've read it โ†’ what stuck with you? โ†“

corporate emails vs how you actually talk ๐Ÿ’ผ

we've all done it. we type ONE way, but our brain thinks another way entirely.

CORPORATE: "Per our previous discussion..."
YOU: "like we said yesterday..."

CORPORATE: "Reaching out to touch base..."
YOU: "hey โ€” got a quick question."

CORPORATE: "I wanted to flag this issue..."
YOU: "there's a problem โ€” heads up."

CORPORATE: "Please advise at your earliest convenience..."
YOU: "can you let me know by Friday?"

CORPORATE: "As per my last email..."
YOU: "like I said on Tuesday..."

โ€”

the rule I follow now:

if you wouldn't SAY it out loud to their face,
don't WRITE it in an email.

sounds obvious. changes everything.

which corporate phrase do YOU still use? confess below โ†“

how I audit an email in 5 minutes (save this) โฑ

before I hit send on ANY campaign, I run this 5-minute audit. it's the single reason my emails get replies.

โฑ MINUTE 1: read the subject line ALONE.
would YOU open it? honestly?
if no โ†’ rewrite.

โฑ MINUTE 2: read the first line ONLY.
does it earn the next line?
if no โ†’ cut everything above the good part.

โฑ MINUTE 3: find THE ask.
is it in ONE clear sentence?
if no โ†’ rewrite. never make readers hunt.

โฑ MINUTE 4: check on MOBILE.
is the CTA above the fold?
70% read on phones. design for them first.

โฑ MINUTE 5: read it OUT LOUD.
does it sound HUMAN?
if you wouldn't say it to a friend, don't send it.

โ€”

5 minutes.
5 questions.
infinite improvement.

which step do YOU skip most? drop it below โ†“

I skip step 5 too often โ€” reading aloud feels awkward but catches every corporate-sounding line.

currently on repeat: Let Go โ€” Avril Lavigne ๐ŸŽง

the album that lived in my CD player during study breaks.

saved my sanity in college.
still saves my sanity now.

there's something about the songs you loved at your teenage years
that still fit your soul at your adulting life.

skater boy for the days I need to remember who I am.
complicated for the days people are being complicated.
i'm with you for the quiet 2am moments.

not every playlist needs to be curated.
sometimes the ones that raised you are the ones that stay.

how a Friday afternoon email became my most-replied ever ๐Ÿ“ฉ

sent at 3:47pm on a Friday. thought I made a mistake.

SUBJECT LINE:
"this can wait until Monday, but..."

RESULT:
Opened by 62% of the list.
Replied to by 31%.
(Industry average: 8%.)

why did it work?

it acknowledged what everyone was already thinking:

"please don't stress me on a Friday."

by giving people PERMISSION to wait, they felt safe to engage.
no pressure = they read it.
no urgency = they replied.

the lesson?

empathy beats urgency. every single time.

your reader is a human. not a task on your list.

3 subject lines that got me ACTUAL clients (with real data) ๐Ÿ“ฉ

not tips. not theory. actual lines from my outbox:

1๏ธโƒฃ "30 seconds on your Q4 launch"
โ†’ Opened by the CMO in 2 minutes.
Why: I named their specific project + respected their time.

2๏ธโƒฃ "that thing you said on LinkedIn"
โ†’ 47% open rate on a cold list.
Why: sounds like a friend, not a template. They open just to check WHICH thing.

3๏ธโƒฃ "wrong meeting?"
โ†’ 89% open rate. 22% reply rate.
Why: pattern interrupt. Looks like a mistake in their inbox. They open to check.

โ€”

the pattern?

each one made them curious in under 8 words.

what's NOT on the list:
ร— ALL CAPS urgency
ร— fake "quick question"
ร— "hope this finds you well"

just curiosity + specificity ๐ŸŒ™

5 marketing books that changed how I write ๐Ÿ“š

these shaped everything!
from how I write subject lines
to how I structure landing pages to how I think about
"marketing" itself.

1๏ธโƒฃ Building a StoryBrand by Donald Miller
The framework I use before writing ANY campaign.

2๏ธโƒฃ Everybody Writes by Ann Handley
The reason my subject lines actually get opened.

3๏ธโƒฃ This Is Marketing by Seth Godin
Made me stop chasing hacks. Read it twice.

4๏ธโƒฃ Cashvertising by Drew Eric Whitman
100+ psychology triggers that make ads convert.
Wildly underrated.

5๏ธโƒฃ Deep Work by Cal Newport
How I get more done in 4 hours than a full 9-5.
WFH essential.

5 corporate email phrases Gen Z refuses to use (and what they actually say):

1. โ€œPer my last emailโ€ โ†’ โ€œreminder!โ€

2. โ€œKindly do the needfulโ€
โ†’ โ€œcan you do this by [day]?โ€

3. โ€œCircle backโ€
โ†’ โ€œletโ€™s revisit next weekโ€

4. โ€œPlease adviseโ€
โ†’ โ€œwhat do you think?โ€

5. โ€œAs previously discussedโ€
โ†’ โ€œas we talked aboutโ€

the shift?

corporate emails SOUND important.

human emails actually WORK.

10 years in marketing has taught me one thing:
the emails that get replies are the ones that
sound like a person, not a policy document.

your subject lines. your CTAs. your sign-offs.
all of it should read like something youโ€™d
actually say to your coworker at lunch.

not something youโ€™d draft with three lawyers
in the room.

which corporate phrase makes YOU cringe
the most? drop it below โ†“

marketing metrics I stopped caring about (and what I track instead) ๐Ÿ‘‡

most marketers track everything.
the best ones? track very little.

here's what I stopped tracking:

1๏ธโƒฃ open rate
โ†ณ Apple broke this number. it lies to your face.
โ†ณ now I track: reply rate.

2๏ธโƒฃ click-through rate
โ†ณ bots inflate this by 30%.
โ†ณ now I track: page time.

3๏ธโƒฃ list size
โ†ณ 100k dead contacts destroys deliverability.
โ†ณ now I track: active subs (90d engaged).

4๏ธโƒฃ unsubscribe rate
โ†ณ high unsubs = free list cleanup.
โ†ณ now I track: spam rate. anything above 0.1% and you're cooked.

5๏ธโƒฃ send volume
โ†ณ "we sent 500k emails" tells me nothing.
โ†ณ now I track: revenue per send. $ per email.

the pattern?

vanity metrics measure activity.
real metrics measure outcomes.

stop measuring the noise.
start measuring what actually moved.

which metric are YOU still caring about that you probably shouldn't? drop it below โ†“
