THE FILIPINO FACES the risk of Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) throughout his life. At birth congenital heart disease (CHD) and vascular malformations are possible.
TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM, the government created two (2) legal mandates, NAMELY:
* PROCLAMATION NO. 973 s. of 1997 ( https://www.officialgazette.gov.ph/1997/02/13/proclamation-no-973-s-1997/ ) DECLARING the National CVD Program (NCVDCP) a priority program CALLING all government agencies to GIVE
FULL SUPPORT to this program;
* MEMORANDUM ORDER NO. 416 s. of 1997 (https://www.officialgazette.gov.ph/1997/02/13/memorandum-order-no-416-s-1997/ ) for the nationwide implementation of PROCLAMATION NO. 973 DECLARING the National CVD Program (NCVDCP) a PRIORITY PROGRAM.
ELECTROCARDIOGRAN (ECG) is a RELIABLE heart examination to determine heart attack and various forms of heart and CVD, however, COSTLY among average earners.
NORMALLY; before you can have an ECG test, you will have to see a doctor for a REFERRAL, then present this referral to a clinic or a hospital. AFTER the ECG test is done, you will be asked to return for a few days to get the result. AFTER getting the result, you will have to return to the doctor who made the referral for you to knoe the result. ALL of these STEPS with corresponding fees (P2,000.00 - P4,000.00 depends on the doctor and clinic/hospital) NOT TO MENTION the efforts and stress and stress that you will have to encounter before you can finally get the result.
SOMETIMES, said steps are not yet over, especially if your ECG is NOT NORMAL; you will be referred to a Cardiologist or a heart especialist.
