Precision. Practice. Patient Care. 💉🔥

On February 21, 2026, The Medical Exemplars Dedicated to Service (MEDS) successfully held their annual skills enhancement program, “Precision Puncture: A Clinical Skills Training Program” at Gullas College of Medicine.

With the help and guidance of licensed medical professionals, MEDS members and students were able to test and master their skills in IV insertion and IM injections through hands-on experience!

Wrapping up the day with a new skillset that comes with precision and confidence. 💪

MEDS @ 12: A Legacy of Dedicated Service Since 2014 🫀

For twelve remarkable years, the Medical Exemplars Dedicated to Service (MEDS) organization has stood firm in its mission of excellence, unity, and compassion. Established in 2014, MEDS was built on the belief that “considerable benefits are to be obtained from a collaboration of medical students with the same vision” - a vision that continues to guide us today.

Rooted in our creed, “Non nobis sed omnibus”, MEDS has consistently nurtured academic excellence, camaraderie, and dedicated service. From providing academic support and fostering unity within the school, to empowering communities through outreach programs and rendering competent medical service in times of need , our commitment has never wavered.

Through growing generations of masters and leaders, MEDS has continued to hone talents, uplift one another, and serve humanity with integrity and purpose.

Cheers to 12 years of unwavering dedication, strengthened bonds, and a legacy of service that continues to inspire 🥂

February 28 is International Rare Disease Day with the theme, "More than you can imagine"

Observed every year on the last day of February, Rare Disease Day is a global movement dedicated to raising awareness for the more than 300 million people worldwide living with rare diseases. First launched in 2008, this day unites patients, families, healthcare professionals, and advocates across countries to spread hope on over 7,000 identified rare conditions. Nearly 70% of which begin in childhood, and about 80% with genetic origins.

In the Philippines, approximately 6,500 Filipinos are affected with over 150 recognized rare diseases. With the enactment of the Rare Disease Act of 2016 (RA 10747), progress has been made in improving access to diagnosis, treatment, and support—yet much work remains to ensure equitable and comprehensive care for all.

The MEDS organization stands in solidarity with every patient and family navigating these challenges. We remain committed to raising awareness, fostering compassion, and advocating for better healthcare access. In every support given, a candle of hope is lit in the quest to find solutions for rare diseases. 💙🩷💚

We extend our sincere gratitude to all the patrons, fellow students, staff, and doctors who supported our initiative. Your presence and encouragement made this event truly meaningful.

💉 Ready to make every shot count?

The Medical Exemplars Dedicated to Service (MEDS) Organization invites you to participate in 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝘂𝗻𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲: 𝗔 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 focusing on IV insertion, IM injection, and phlebotomy techniques.

This hands-on training is facilitated by licensed healthcare professionals and is designed to enhance essential needlework skills. All materials for the training will be provided. Registration is open to both MEDS and non-MEDS participants, with a ₱𝟮𝟬𝟬 𝗿𝗲𝗴𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗲𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗻𝗼𝗻-𝗠𝗘𝗗𝗦 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀.

‼️ Limited slots (50 participants only) are available for non-MEDS attendees on a 𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚, 𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩 𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙚𝙙 basis. Separate QR codes are provided for MEDS and non-MEDS registration.

This February, the MEDS Organization is one with Filipinos in observing ✨Philippine Heart Month✨

With cardiovascular diseases (CVD) continuing to be the leading cause of death in the Philippines, it is high-time to put heart health in one of our top priorities. One in three Filipino adults is affected by some form of CVD, with risk factors like hypertension, high cholesterol, and diabetes playing a significant role in this alarming trend.

Protecting the heart means making conscious lifestyle choices. We can reduce the risk of heart disease by

🫀 Adopting a heart-healthy diet
🫀 Engaging in regular exercise (at least 30 mins a day)
🫀 Avoiding smoking and limiting alcohol intake
🫀 Managing stress and maintaining a healthy weight
