Yes, children who are blind can also learn to help in household chores!

It's always a thrill when clients learn a new skill - this one is to prepare G for helping with the laundry since he is already doing well with removing clothes from hangers and clothespins.

It's a double thrill when family members think of solutions themselves. In this case, G's Papa came up with this creative way to practice the skill. Ang galing galing!!!

Let's continue working with families to achieve the outcomes they desire.

Look! Ito ba ang batang takot na takot noon sa swing?

After just one walk-through with Mommy, our Ate L was able to navigate the play area with Mommy's verbal feedback. She used her hand, feet, and entire body to orient herself and successfully move through the entire course. So proud of you, Ate!

Mga Daddy at Mommy, you can allow your blind children to explore and face challenges like this for their orientation and mobility skills, as well as to increase their level of confidence.

"Holy carabao!"

Iyan ang nasabi ko when Mommy K sent me this video (posted with permission). Watch not-so-little boy C doing a headstand with lots of encouragement and coaching.

NOTE: Never pa pong nagturo ng batang bulag ang mga coaches pero WILLING sila. Iyan lang po ang kailangan to see holy-carabao moments like these.

After years of thinking, "Ang mahal ng light box" -- at last, a very doable, effective DIY lightbox! This one was made for my client with cortical visual impairment. In a dark room with different colored pieces of cloth on top, it has worked well for visual stimulation. The lights are battery-operated, attached to the bottom of the box, and can be found in hardware stores.
