NPF Davao Sortie | April 27–30
Between April 27–30, NPF’s multi-level delegation went on a mission to the Davao Region. Its main objective was to engage in dialogue with LGU health managers on the HEALTH Plus service business format for possible implementation in their health facilities.
The initiative was facilitated and led by Ms. Regi Greja Gavino, whose professional background in healthcare spans from community-based programs to supporting high-level DOH executives, as well as working with international development agencies in the health sector.
The NPF delegation was composed of Trustee and Corporate Secretary Dr. Shonee Anden, CEO Remotigue, and Central Operations Manager Ms. Eureka Padrigo-Sangalang.
The dialogues were conducted on site:
• In the Davao City Health Office, where the team met with CHO Dr. Ababon, ACHO Dr. Margie Roa-Rubio, and representatives from the Pharmacy Department Head, Gemma Pujanes and Procurement team.
• In Davao del Norte, with the Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Alfredo Lecerona.
• In Davao de Oro, where meetings were held in two stages: first with the Provincial DOH Team and Provincial Health Office, followed by a meeting with the Provincial Governor, Engr. Raul Mabanglo.
• In Davao Oriental, where engagements were also conducted in two stages: an initial meeting with PHO, Dr. Reden Bersaldo and team, followed by a second meeting with hospital management and department heads to further advance discussions toward a potential agreement
To complete the public-private character of the HEALTH Plus system, the team also met with the management committee of Dole Phil’s Stanfilco Partner's Kasilak Development Foundation, Inc. at their office in Davao City.
To cap the four-day sortie, the team gathered for a dinner with Foundation members Dodoy Magdolot and Jean Lindo, while Roberto Palo joined in spirit through shared updates and photos.
As the team waited for their ride to the airport for their return flight, Dr. Shonee remarked, “WE MADE IT.” By this, she meant that NPF was able to communicate its value in partnering with LGUs to help ensure that patients served in public hospitals can access the medicines they need from hospital pharmacies with zero out-of-pocket expense.
That was the mission the delegation set out to accomplish—and it was achieved.
Regi, who initiated the dialogue, expressed her delight at the engagement and openness of the LGUs, and looks forward to translating these conversations into meaningful partnerships.
