The UP-PGH Department of Family and Community Medicine family traded their stethoscopes for bowling shoes last 𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟐, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔, to celebrate 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐅𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐃𝐨𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫’𝐬 𝐃𝐚𝐲!

Our annual celebration took a fun, competitive turn with an incredible 𝐁𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐍𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 🎳✨

More than just a game, the night was all about celebrating the heart of our department—our people. From the consultants and residents to our amazing staff, everyone hit the lanes to unwind, share a laugh, and strengthen the camaraderie that keeps our community strong.

We are honored to welcome Dr. Wayne Dysinger, Past President of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine and current Chief Medical Officer of Blue Zones Health, to the University of the Philippines–Philippine General Hospital (UP-PGH) last May 28, 2026.

During his visit, Dr. Dysinger met with Dr. Michael Tee, Chancellor of University of the Philippines Manila, Dr. Gerardo 'Gap' Legaspi, Director of Philippine General Hospital, and the Division of Preventive and Lifestyle Medicine led by Dr. Leilanie Nicodemus, Dr. Mechelle Palma, and Dr. Karin Garcia.

A highlight of the visit was Dr. Dysinger’s recognition of the UP-PGH Preventive and Lifestyle Medicine Clinical Fellowship Program as one of the pioneering institutional lifestyle medicine fellowship programs in the world. His acknowledgment underscores the program’s leadership in advancing evidence-based lifestyle medicine, training future physician leaders, and integrating prevention-focused care into academic medicine and clinical practice.

This recognition reflects the vision, dedication, and collaborative efforts of UP Manila, PGH, and Department of Family and Community Medicine’s Division of Preventive and Lifestyle Medicine in promoting health through lifestyle-based approaches that address the root causes of chronic disease.

As lifestyle medicine continues to gain global momentum, UP-PGH remains committed to shaping the future of healthcare through innovation, education, research, and patient-centered preventive care.

We extend our sincere appreciation to everyone who took part in today’s Capacity Building Seminar: “Gets Kita Bagets”—a meaningful gathering that brought together parents and frontliners, united by one goal: to better understand, support, and care for our adolescents.

Through shared stories, guided conversations, and compassionate teaching, we were reminded that behind every young person is a community willing to listen, guide, and love.

Maraming salamat sa ating facilitators and partners for sharing your time, wisdom, and heart. Together, we continue to build safer spaces and stronger relationships for the next generation.

The University of the Philippines - Philippine General Hospital Department of Family and Community Medicine is now accepting 𝙢𝙞𝙙𝙮𝙚𝙖𝙧 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙮 𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙡𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 for academic year 2026-2028.

The UP-PGH DFCM Residency Training Program is a three-year traditional program accredited by the Philippine Academy of Physicians as a Center of Excellence (Level IV) — one of the first programs and the only public institution in the country with the distinction.
